“Sorry,” she says, her face full of amusement and not the slightest bit sorry.
“No, you’re not.” I glare at her.
She shakes her head with a laugh. “No, I’m not. You should’ve seen your face.”
“Bitch. You’re lucky you’re pregnant,” I point my spoon at her in warning. “What’re you doing here, anyway?” I glance over at the clock on the wall, noting it’s barely after eight AM. “And why so early?”
“Just dropped Reign off at school so thought I’d swing by and see if you’re up for girls’ night tonight.”
“Absolutely, yes. I need a girls’ night. I miss my bestie,” I stick my bottom lip out in a pout, earning an eye roll from her.
“Good. I’ll tell the others. And as for missing me, you know where I live,” she raises her perfectly shaped eyebrow at me. It’s her go to expression when Reign has been bad.
“Don’t you raise your eyebrow at me, I’m not your four-year-old. You abandoned me!” I bitch, clearly choosing violence today.
“You’re being dramatic again. How about we have a sleepover soon, yeah?” She placates in a calm voice and apparently, I’m as easy to please as four-year-old because it works, and I drop my shoulders with an exhale and nod.
“Good. Now get dressed,” she claps her hands together in a chop chop gesture.
“Why? Where are we going?”
She gives me a shit eating grin. “Shopping. I owe you a pair of cowboy boots.”
My eyes light up in excitement and I gulp down the rest of my coffee before darting off to my bedroom, Savannahs laugh following me down the hall as I go.
I brush my teeth, throw some clothes on and quickly unplug my phone from the charger to send Grayson his daily horse joke before meeting Savannah at the front door.
“That was quick,” she says, rubbing her hand over her small bump lovingly.
I give her a ‘well duh’ look. “I don’t play around when it comes to shopping, Sav.”
“No shit,” she laughs as we head out the front door and towards her car.
“So, you wanna tell me what’s going on between you and Grayson?” Savannah asks as she backs out of the driveway.
I give her a side eye. “Nothings going on between me and Grayson,” I lie.
“Don’t give me that shit, Liv. He fireman carried you out of the bar in front of all the customers after you refused to talk to him. Your car has been seen at the ranch, and I know you weren’t visiting me. So, spill,” she says, giving me an expectant look.
I release a long breath. “We’re basically friends with benefits.”
“Okay…” she drags the word out, “and what was the scene about in the bar the other night? You didn’t come back.”
“That was me making a fool of myself. He took me to Ruebens grave and told me everything.”
Savannahs eyes widen slightly in surprise. “Wow. Hunter told me he doesn’t talk about Rueben. Like, ever.”
I nod. “Yeah, so I’ve heard. Which just makes things even more confusing because why would he take me there and share that with me? He didn’t need to do that.”
“Well, you did accuse him of having a secret family, so I guess that was his way of proving your assumptions were wrong,” Savannah offers, and I think about that for a second.
I guess it does make sense that it was the easiest way for him to get his point across, but still, it’s not something that you just share with anyone and for him to speak about Rueben for the first time withme, it must mean something, right?
“Do you like him?” Savannahs voice interrupts my thoughts.
“Obviously I like him. I wouldn’t be sleeping with him if I didn’t like him.”
“You know what I mean, Liv. Do you have feelings for him?”
