"Um, remember what you were saying about what goes around comes around?" Alpha Wyatt scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah, so, after she rejected our boy here, karmadidcatch up to her."
"Karma named Quartz and Sid," Emerson smirked.
"What about her wolf? Do you remember anything about her wolf? Anything odd?"
"Lorikeet always seemed very quiet." Alpha frowned as he thought about it. "Didn't interact much with other wolves. I can't remember meorGran ever really talking to her, to be honest, but I'll ask my brothers."
"Shewasquiet," Nick agreed. "Birch says he talked with her once or twice. Very shy and timid."
"The opposite of her human half, then," Rio grunted.
"Some are," I murmured. "Like Alpha Jayden and Quartz. Or Beta Tyler and River."
"Well, I guess we'll have to figure out what this is on our own." Ariel frowned and looked at Landry's chest again. "I need the rest of my coven here."
"Wyatt, whoever and whatever she needs, you get it for herright now," luna demanded.
"Your word is our law, cutie," he murmured before his eyes fogged over.
"But why is it just the luna's touch that gets the reaction?" I asked as I thought about it. "At first, I believed maybe it was a gender thing. It never happened with any ofus, and his mate rejecting him could have left some kind of impact we don't know about concerning females. But he didn't do that when Ariel touched him, so it's only luna's touch doing it."
"Maybe it's not a bad thing," Beta Emerson suggested, making us all wheel around to stare at him. "We can ask Ty, since the kid practically lives in the alpha research library, but who's ever heard of a luna's touch causing harm to a pack mate? No one. That's because everyone knows that her touch is a healing one. What if that's what's happening here?"
"He caught the curse, however that happened, and luna was drawing it out of him like poison?" Adam asked.
"Just a thought." He shrugged. "That black stuff came out of him after she touched him, then disappeared back into him shortly afterwards."
"Let's do a test!" I suggested, only for the alpha and both betas to snarl at me. Raising my hands in surrender, I turned to Ariel. "You know we need to do it."
"Luna, you said you were not affected in any negative way, right?" Ariel asked while alpha shook his head with a fierce scowl.
"Right. Wyatt, I want to do it." She tried to unpeel alpha's arms from around her body. "If it helps Gamma Landry, Ineedto do it."
"NO!" he growled. "I won't let you—"
"There's noletme." She looked at him with raised eyebrows. "I don't need your permission to help a pack mate, Wyatt, any more than you need mine."
I smirked a little. Our tiny luna might look like a fragile butterfly, but she had wings of diamond and steel.
Alpha obviously didn't like it, but how could he argue? Releasing her, he walked her over to Landry's prone figure and knelt with her, holding tightly to her hand as she followed the same process Ariel did.
She got no reaction from touching the t-shirt on his arm, his bare arm, or the t-shirt over his solar plexus. The second her fingertips met the skin of his chest, though, the bruise reappeared and began to darken.
"Posy! Are you okay?" Alpha demanded, looking ready to pull her back at any second.
"I'm fine."
"Then why are tears streaming down your face?" he barked.
"I don't like hurting him."
He huffed in irritation, but didn't interfere.
"Luna, don't break contact, but slide your hand up a little toward his heart," Ariel requested.
She did, and the whole bruise and squirmy black veins thing happened much faster this time.
"Yep. Warm Hands, Cold Heart." Ariel nodded, looking pleased with herself for figuring it out.
