"It's all gone now, luna," Maria said. "You can let go."

That was all the alphas needed to hear to descend on their girl. She was swept up in Alpha Ash's arms before she could get off her knees. He kissed her fiercely before passing her to the next alpha, and each of them kissed the poor luna senseless.

Finally, Alpha Jayden set her on her feet, put his hands on her shoulders, and made her look into his eyes, which burned with worry. She smiled up at him, her dimples on full display, andhereyes sparkled with something, but I couldn't tell what.

"Jayden! Did you see what I did?" she squeaked.

"I did, sweetness. You saved him. That was so brave of you, but are yousureyou're okay? I've never been so scared in my life!"

She nodded and opened her mouth to reply, but Quartz's furious roar overrode anything she might have said.

Damn, damn, damn!Larch muttered, and I one-hundred percent agreed with my wolf.

Quartz in a temper was never a fun time, and someone always got hurt.

As if the sound of his fury had opened a dam, the other four alphas began to yell. EvenAlpha Masonlost his cool, which wasn't something I had ever witnessed before, and I'd once seen the man with his arm nearly torn off after breaking up two young hotheads at fighter practice.

"I can't believe you did that, Posy! You could have been hurt! You could have beenkilled!"

"You put your life in danger!" Alpha Cole shouted. "How could you do that? Do you know what would happen if we lost you?"

"What were you thinking?! Why would you do something so stupid?" Alpha Ash, the most laid-back of the five, was red-faced with anger.

"You should have waited until we could research it more!" Alpha Wyatt hollered. "There had to have been a solution that didn't put you at risk!"

And under the weight of their shouting, our luna reached her breaking point.

Hands clenched in fists at her sides, face red, tears streaming down her cheeks, she opened her mouth and screamed two words that turned all of us into statues.

"SHUT UP!"

28: Fury

Posy

For the second time in my life, I lost my temper.

"I know you're scared and angry because I was in danger, but you have no right to yell at me like this or call me stupid. You think I don't get scared or worried when you leave the house every morning to doyourjob? Or when you go on missions for the king to a pack that's in so much trouble, its own alpha can't handle it?"

I held up my hand when Ash and Wyatt opened their mouths, and thank the Goddess they closed them again or I might have done something violent.

"But I don't hold you back. I don't complain or cry or scream at you and say mean things. Sure, I asked you to stay home for a little while after the parasite incident, because I think we all deserved and needed a break, but I would never try to stop you from being who you are. Beingwhatyou are. Strong, brave, powerful alphas that people look to for help. And you need to do the same for me."

"Posy—"

"No, Cole! You be quiet and listen to me for once!Ihelped Landry.Me. Nobody else here could do anything for him, onlyme, because I'm his luna. And do you know how that made me feel? Proud. I wasproudof myself! For the first time since I was a pup, I was proud of something I accomplished on my own. I finally felt like the luna of this pack -and you took that away from me!"

"Sweetness—"

"Jayden, none of what I'm saying is meant for you. Quartz, on the other hand, is a different story."

Shaking my head, I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes at my other mates.

"Topaz, Garnet, Granite, Sid, take control and shift. Now!Jayden, if you shift, can you control Quartz so he doesn't ascend?"

"Yes, sweetness." He raised an eyebrow, clearly puzzled, but nodded. "You want me to shift now, too?"

"Please." Even angry, I wanted to be polite to the one whohadn'thurt me.
