"What should we get?" I asked as we walked towards the shop. "Each of us pick a bouquet or each of us pick individual flowers to make up one bouquet?"

"She deserves a whole bouquet from each of us," Wyatt said, pulling open the door and waving us ahead of him. "And grab a vase if yours doesn't come with one because I think we only have one at home."

We didn't dawdle with our selections, but we also took our time to think about what we were choosing and why. Jay got a mix of pink, white, and red roses. No brainer there.

Cole picked out an arrangement of sunflowers that he thought suited our girl's normally sunny disposition.

Mase cheated and Googled flowers that represented purity and innocence. Once he had a list of options, he went with pink and white lilies.

Wyatt hemmed and hawed before going with a mix of purple and white flowers since purple was her favorite color.

As for me, I'd seen what I wanted the second I walked in the shop.

There was a special display set up that featured little animals made out of carnations and set in a variety of charming containers. I grinned as I reached for a little white doggy perched on a metal garden cart.

"I think you want that more for yourself," Wyatt teased.

"What? It's so cute!" I squealed. "She'll love it!"

Then I walked toward the register only to stop when I realized Jay was staring off into space with a heavy frown.

Brother?I linked him directly.

Quartz does and doesn't want to get her flowers, too, he explained in a dry tone. You know how he is. If he can't kill a problem, he's lost with how to solve it, and he won't bow his head to anyone, except our mate.

Would it help if I gave him an alpha command?I winced as soon as I said it. Quartz became even angrier and more stubborn when someone gave him orders.Better idea! I could tell himnotto get flowers. Use a little reverse psychology?

Hmm. We haven't tried that before, although Posy did to get him to the pet store. It worked for her, so let's try, but don't use your alpha voice. Not when he's this aggressive already and we're around humans.

"Jay, what's taking so long? We're ready to check out," I said aloud.

"Q is still deciding."

"Quartz," I barked, "why don't you leave the flower-buying to humans? It's too hard for a wolf to figure out, and we don't need any more screw-ups today."

The growl that rumbled out of Jay's chest made the hair stand up on the back of my neck, and our brothers yipped and linked to ask what was wrong.

Should have warned them, Ashy, Sid snickered.

Naw, makes it more believable for Q. I'm surprised he hasn't questioned why I'm acting out of character.

Too upset at himself to notice, Sid suggested, and I nodded in agreement.

I will pick flowers for my little mate!Quartz thundered.

At least he didn't curse, Jay said with a shrug.

Which was a good sign that he was calming down. For a brutal bastard, he was normally a very well-spoken wolf, but his language deteriorated with his temper.

"Fine!" I muttered, holding back a grin of triumph, and motioned for the others to head to the check-out.

We paid and headed back to Jay's SUV, where he handed off his purchases so he could drive. In addition to their own arrangements, Mase took charge of Jay's roses while Cole held a little terracotta pot of pansies.

I looked at it and snorted.

Don't be jealous that mine's the best, Quartz taunted with a smug smirk.
