"What?!" I held up my doggy flower cart. "Mine's the most adorable thing ever! I mean, look at it!"

Mine is her favorite flower, and it's alive, unlike all of yours. She'll still have mine next year this time while yours will be in the garbage can next week.

"Oh, shut up!" I groaned.

Your pouting only proves you know I'm right,he chuckled darkly. Now tell me how flower-buying is too difficult for a wolf.

Tyler met us at our front door with a stony look on his face and River ablaze in his eyes.

"Where's our girl?" I asked. "Is she okay?"

"She fell asleep on the couch about twenty minutes ago."

"Ty—" Ash began, but he shook his head slowly, and Ash shut up.

"You are my alphas, my brothers-in-law, and my friends, so all I'm going to say is, fix this and fix it fast."

He narrowed his eyes at each of us as his wolf snarled with rage.

"And with the greatest respect, don'teverhurt my luna like this again."

To anyone who didn't know him, it probably looked ridiculous to see one young beta squaring up against five alphas, but Tyler had the heart of a lion. Hard as nails and twice as tough in a fight, he didn't go down easily, and he kept getting back up if he did. There was no quit in him, and that waswithoutRiver in the equation. Once that wolf exploded, he was as brutal as Quartz.

Maybe even more, Granite said.Q straight up kills. Riv likes to play with his victims.

Facts, I agreed.

"Thank you for staying with her, Ty," Mase said simply.

Acknowledging him with a nod, Tyler shouldered his way past us and went out the door.

Well, that went better than I expected,I thought.

And River didn't come out,Granite agreed, so that's good.

Very good.

"Okay, what now?" Ash asked, tapping his vase of flowers with impatient fingers.

"Let's surround her with our bouquets," I suggested, "so she sees them as soon as she wakes up."

They all liked that idea, and we headed to the living room, where we came to a dead stop and stared at our sleeping beauty. Her eyes were a little puffy and the tip of her nose was red, and my heart clenched painfully.

I hated seeing the evidence of her crying. Not a single tear should ever fall from her beautiful blue eyes.

Mase, Cole, and Jay arranged their vases in a row on the side table behind the couch where she slept. Ash and I put ours on the coffee table in front of her, and Jay set Quartz's pot of pansies next to Ash's flower puppy.

Did Quartz tell you to put it there?I linked with a smirk. He does realize this isn't a competition, doesn't he?

Youcan ask that? You, for whom everything is a competition?Jay shook his head. You know he did.

"Let's make sure to put our cards in our overnight bags so we don't forget or lose them," Mase said quietly. "I'll go pack mine and Posy's bags now while she's asleep, but link me as soon as she wakes up."

"Don't forget Mr. Nibbles," the rest of us whispered in sync, then grinned at each other.
