POSY!

Um, hi?

Do not close our link again. Do you hear me?

Yes, Mason.

Are you safe?

Yes. The betas are with me.

All right. Okay. Stay with them. Promise me, Posy.

I promise.

Now tell me everything, and I mean every little thing!

I did and even sent the memory along for him to see. He didn't respond for several minutes, then a simple sentence broke the silence.

I'm going to kill him.

I waited and kept the link open since Mason said to, but heard nothing more.

"Uh-oh." Tristan said after a minute or two.

"What?" Crew asked.

"Alpha Mason wolfed out. Leo's driving now and Garnet's howling his head off and destroying the seats. Poppy's trying to calm him down, but not making any progress."

"Dang. Alpha loves that truck." Tyler shook his head. "He's going to be so pissed when he calms down."

"Hundred bucks says he makes Alpha Cole replace it," Emerson said with a smirk.

The other guys chuckled and, despite everything, I smiled a little, too. Mason really did love his truck.

Hopefully, he still lovesme.

I was exhausted in every way there was to be exhausted and only half-listened as the betas continued to talk quietly. Curled up against Tyler, my eyelids grew heavier and heavier until they finally stayed closed.

"Something's wrong with Topaz, and whatever it is has affected Alpha Cole," I heard Matthew's voice from far away.

"I agree," Tristan said. "It seemed to me like Alpha Cole was controlling alphas Ash and Wyatt."

And that was the last I heard before I fell into the merciful arms of unconsciousness.

It felt like I'd only been asleep for five minutes when a roar like a sonic boom shook every tree surrounding the clearing, causing a few branches to snap and fall. I shot up as the rhythm of heavy thuds grew closer and closer. Glancing at the betas, I saw they realized the same thing I did.

Mason had arrived, and he wasbeyondangry.

His enormous black wolf barreled into the clearing and skidded to a stop, his thick claws ripping big grooves in the mossy ground. Showing his wickedly sharp teeth, he growled at the betas as fury flared in his eyes.

Smart guy that he was, Tyler slowly released me and backed away. The other betas, also being smart guys, followed suit, and all five of them moved to the outer edges of the clearing.

Talk to Garnet,Lark advised. You the only one here he sure he not going to kill.

Hoping she was right, I held my arms out.
