Dear Posy,

I am truly sorry, my little flower. You were right, and we deserved every word you said. I let my fear and worry control me and made a terrible choice, and that choice cost you something you can never get back - your first feeling of accomplishment as Five Fangs’ luna. I can’t make that up to you, and I will forever regret it, but I hope I can earn your forgiveness someday.

I want you to know that I am proud of you. So, so proud of you! Not only for how you bravely helped Landry, but also for how you stood up to us and made us see how wrong we were.

All my love,

Mason

"Did you enjoy the tea shop, cutie?" I asked, already knowing the answer from the sparkle in our girl's eyes.

"Oh, yes, so much! We had the most wonderful little sandwiches cut into tiny squares. I didn't know what some of them were. What is watercress, anyway? The cucumber ones had some kind of soft herb cheese that was delicious. And then we had— Mason, what were they called? Something that sounds like macaroni, but not that."

"Macarons, baby," Mason supplied, smiling at her rambling as we three stood on the sidewalk outside the little restaurant.

He smiles so much now, Granite noted with a wagging tail.

I know. We all do. She's our happiness.

"The ones that are piles of coconut," I asked Posy, "or the ones that are like crunchy little cookie cakes?"

"The second kind. They were pink and purple and mint green!" she squealed and bounced on her toes. "So pretty! I almost didn't want to eat them!"

This girl, I linked Mase with a big grin.Could she be any cuter?

I know,he linked back.Goddess, I love her.

Me, too, brother.

"So what arewedoing, fifth star?" She stopped hopping around and hugged my arm.

"Thought we'd go for a walk at the park and swing by McDonald's for dinner," I teased, wanting to see her pout, but I should have known better.

"Oh, I love the park! I used to feed the duckies at the park in Green River. And I haven't been to McDonald's in years, but I think I remember liking chicken nuggies."

Aww!Gran sniffed. Now I has a sad.

Me, too.

Gently gathering her into my arms, I held her head against my chest with one hand and cupped her opposite hip with the other as I raised my eyes to the sky until I could speak again.

"I'm teasing, Posy. I have a great date planned, full of secret reveals." My voice was still husky, so I did what I did best and made a joke. "We're just waiting for Mr. Third Wheel here to leave."

"All right, all right. I'm going." Mase scrubbed his knuckles on top of my head, making me scowl at him, and he laughed.

He actually laughed.

Where is my big brother and what have you done to him?I demanded.

Rolling his eyes at me, he handed me her overnight bag, then leaned down, kissed our girl's cheek, and told her to have fun. She thanked him and said bye, then I led her to my Jag as he headed to his truck.

"What did you find at the flea market, cutie?" I asked after we were both buckled in and I started driving. "Besides those sexy ears?"

"Are they? I thought they were cute." She sounded unsure. "Should I not wear them in public? Are they for private bedroom time?"
