When I got no answer, I linked my other mates to see if one of their wolves held her attention, and was confused when they all said no.
"All right, Posy. What's going on?" Ash put his hands on my shoulders, then bent down to look in my eyes.
Lark?I called once more.
Still nothing.
I could sense her and knew she wasn't asleep, so what was going on?
How is she blocking me so completely? I'd never been able to put up such a solid wall between us. Then another thought,How many times has she done it before? And why?
"Ash, see if Lark will respond to Sid," I murmured. "She's blocking me for some reason."
"She's probably overwhelmed. Goddess knows I am! Been on my best behavior for hours now."
The disturbing scent wafted stronger for a second, and a chill went down my spine. Alarmed now, I shot my eyes around in search of a threat. There was nothing. Just the gravel pathway lined with flickering lamps and the dark silhouettes of hedges crouching in the distance.
My imagination. Has to be.
Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone or something was watching us, and my breathing picked up as my mouth dried to dust.
"No, it's more than that. Something's wrong, Ash. I canfeelit."
"Okay, princess. Sid's talking to her now. Don't worry. We'll figure it out together."
Biting my lip, I nodded, glad to have him at my side, and waited for my wolf to explain what was going on.

Lark
He was here.
He found me.
Just as he promised he would if anyone ever found out what happened.
Moon Goddess, protect me.
Like my human had learned to do, I went still and silent, sinking deep into my mind and shutting out everyone and everything. Fear paralyzed me down to my bones and I didn't know what to do. Posy called me, my mates called me, their boys called me, and I could answer none of them.
But I didn't tell!I fretted.Not even Posy knows!
Something told me that he wouldn't care about the truth, though.
As my distress flared, others began tapping on the link - the betas and their wolves almost frantically - and shutting them out made my head pound as hard as my heart.
I no want to die. Not anymore. Not when I have so much to live for. What do I do? What do I do?!
Then a soft voice came from right in front of me. It filtered through the panic and wrapped around me like a hug.
I love you, Lark. I love you so much. Can you hear me, darling?
