Topaz rolled his eyes, then attacked his other shoe.

"Just don't ask them to tie the laces," I grinned at Lark. "I tried to show them so many times—"

"But all the bunnies make me hungry!" Gran interrupted.

"What?" She tilted her head to the side. "Bunnies tie shoes?"

Tossing his other shoe, Topaz burst out into song:

Bunny ears, bunny ears

Playing by a tree.

Criss-crossed the tree

Trying to catch me.

Bunny ears, bunny ears

Jumped into the hole,

Popped out the other side

Beautiful and bold.

"I love it!" Lark clapped her hands. "Sing again, please!"

"No, don't," I told him with a frown. "At least, not until you learn to sing it on key."

"Key? Ash keys here somewhere." My innocent sweetheart craned her neck to look around. "Why he needs a key?"

"I meant Paz can't carry a tune in a bucket," I laughed.

"Hey! I can carry lots of things in a bucket!" Topaz jumped to his feet and scowled, and I covered my face with the palm of my hand. "I can carry rocks in a bucket and frogs, oh, and water! I'm sure I could carry a tune in a bucket!"

Wait for it...

"What's a tune, anyway, Garnet?"

Damn you, Quartz, for leaving me to deal with them alone! At least the baby isn't here.

Then I frowned, worried because he wasn't.

Just like River, Sid only had two settings: Happy, sweet boy and death-to-all killing machine. Unlike River, who could switch between the two at the drop of a hat, it took a lot to push Sid into the second setting. When he hit it, though, he became one scary bastard.

That didn't concern me so much. A scary bastard of an alpha wolf could take care of himself anywhere, no problem. What did concern me was the fact that he would return to his baby self once he calmed down.

And he was currently alone in a place where a curious, naive pup could find all sorts of trouble.

"Enough about buckets, bunnies, and keys," I grumbled, focusing on what Icouldcontrol. "Let's just get changed."

"Lark, wait. We help you," Gran told her, and she nodded.

So the pups stripped out of their suits fairly quickly, although they both needed help with the buttons on their shirts and vests. Fortunately, this gave me the chance to stop Topaz before he destroyed his pants trying to get the zipper down.

I made them hang up their suits, showing them how everything went on the hangers, and gave in when they said they wanted to sleep in just their boxers. Neither Posy nor Lark minded anyway, so why should I bother getting them into pajamas or even t-shirts?

After I got them to brush their teeth, which was not a job for the faint of heart, the pups ran back to Lark, wanting to help her get ready for bed, too.
