Somewhere between the palace and the dungeon. Pumice is talking to Quartz, and Sid is waiting for him so they can walk back to the guest house together.
Oh, good. I'm glad they're together.I sighed in relief.Q calming down?
Slowly,Jay admitted, then changed topics. Let's contact Rube. I want to know what happened.
You want the good news, the bad news, or the best news first?Reuben asked as soon as he opened the link.
Bad news first,I said before anyone else could answer.
I still haven't found my mate.
Reuben's glum tone kind of clued us in that someone had found theirs, and I traded a look with my brothers.
Hundred bucks says it was Nick!Jay yipped.
No, Adam,Wyatt said.
You both win,Reuben grumbled. That's the best news.
Wait. NickandAdam?I blinked in surprise.
Yep.
And Adam didn't run away?I asked. When Reuben said no, I scowled.Well, hell! Now I owe Ash a hundred bucks! I bet him that Adam would run away when he found his mate.
Not that I thought Adam was a coward or didn't deserve a mate or anything. Dude was a beast on the battlefield, and his conduct in the pack was above reproach. He was humble and kind and highly intelligent; he only graduated as salutatorian because Mase claimed the valedictorian spot that year.
To be fair, Papa bullied Mase to the top while Adam had a sincere love of learning.
For all his accolades, though, Adam was the textbook definition of an introvert, and his awkwardness around girls was next level. All of his confidence seemed to drain right out of him if a girl even looked his way, and he became downright bashful when one tried to talk to him.
No, he didn't run!Reuben smirked.Tripped over his own tongue, but he didn't run.
And Nick found his, too?Jay asked. Were they together when they met them or something?
Yep. They're twin sisters. Now there's just lonely me left.
Well, you'll find h—I stopped myself. Reuben was openly bi-sexual, so how could I know if his mate would be male or female? I settled with saying,Yourmate soon, too, Rube.Everyone else has, and the Moon Goddess won't leave you out.
What are the sisters like?Wyatt asked before Reuben could respond.
They're fairies,Reuben said as casually as if telling us their hair color.
I blinked a couple of times, not believing my ears.
They're what?Wyatt sounded just as incredulous.
They're fairies!
What?
Fairies, alpha.Reuben rolled his eyes. I know you know what they are, so stop saying what.
They're—
Fairies, Wyatt!I growled impatiently.Process it already!
Sorry! I just never heard of a wolf mated to a fairy!he protested.
