He tossed it, and I huffed out a chuckle as she caught it with agrr!and sank her tiny teeth in the stuffed animal, then whipped her head around to "kill" it. Jayden, too, laughed at her cute antics and grabbed the toy's tail to play tug with her.

As they tussled, I thought back to our first run with her. Jayden had said that it was dangerous to give a brutal bastard like me a mate to love. I'd agreed with him then and doubly so now.

Why?

Because I would do anything for my mate.

Anything.

To make and keep my mate safe, I'd betray everyone who called me brother or friend.

I'd go to Hell and slaughter every demon.

I'd set Heaven on fire and watch the angels burn.

I'd doanything, go toanylengths, for her.

For my dear little mate.

For a fifty-pound ball of fuzz currently gnawing on a rainbow llama-corn dog toy.

So, yeah, dangerous didn't begin to cover it.

And if something happened to her, the monster I'd become should beeveryone'sgreatest fear.

Not just mine.

Quartz’s Letter:

5: Adventure Time!

Ash

Today was my date with our girl, and I was so excited, I felt like my soul was going to fly right out of my body!

Me, too, Ashy!

Sid leapt around in my head like a freaking leprechaun, feeding off my energy, and I had only myself to blame.

I'd always struggled with getting a little too hyper and doing dumb things, and Sid often got in trouble right along with me.

Fortunately, Aunt Denise saw what was happening early on and helped me put some strategies in place, and that benefited my wolf, too. It was hard to learn how to create lists, avoid procrastinating, manage my time, and keep distractions to a minimum, but I found my day went so much better if I had a firm schedule, dealt with things as they cropped up, set alarms on my phone, and kept my office clean and free of toys and stuff.

Thank the Goddess, Sid bought into it. Lists, timers, mindfulness routines - he loved it all and was always eager to help me stay on track.

Just like now.

Are we where we're supposed to be?he chirped.

I pulled out my wallet and extracted the index card I was using for today. I'd tried keeping lists on my phone before, but I inevitably started playing a game or went down a rabbit hole on the internet and didn't follow the list, anyway. A piece of paper worked best for me.

"Okay, it's noon now," I told him. "We pick Posy up in an hour, so I set an alarm on my phone for 12:45."

Then what?

"Bup-ba-baah!" I tried to imitate a trumpet. "She picks our first adventure!"

Yes! Can we play with Lark sometime, too?
