Page 94 of Family: Posy 4

"That's way better than my track record with Quartz," Jay muttered.

"Which is why I haven't had to order his wolf put down yet. Still, it's not pretty. He goes on a rampage and attacks anyone who gets in his way."

"Has the dude been actively looking for his mate, or just hoping she'll magically appear?" Wyatt crossed his arms over his chest and frowned.

"Of course he's been looking. He was at Five Fangs about four years ago. Royal and Nathan were still alphas. Anyway, he's getting ready to make another circuit of the kingdom before he heads off to Europe. He'd like to meet Posy first, but understands if that won't be possible."

"You're underestimating our girl," Ash said with a smirk. "She deals with Quartz on the daily. She's got this."

"I hope so," I sighed. "Her family wants this to be a positive experience for her."

"It will be," Jay assured me. "Hundred bucks says she'll see the sadness and pain in his wolf, not the savagery and temper."

"Agreed," said Ash and Cole at the same time.

"Did you tell them anything about her life at Green River?" Wyatt wanted to know.

"All I told them was that you five were her mates, that she grew up thinking Briggs was her father, and that Naomi Swift Everleigh died in the sickness." I glanced down at my clasped hands before looking back up at the boys. "Ionly know what you told me and what she shared with Lilah, so I couldn't have told them much even if I wanted to. It's Posy's business and her decision if she wants to share her past, but they're not dumb people. They guessed that her life wasn't good just from knowing what Briggs did to her mom."

I didn't need to say more. Their eyes fogged over as they conferred, and I left the matter in their hands. They'd know what was best for their girl.

We talked for about half an hour. They caught me up on what had happened with their gamma, and I offered any help they needed in catching the witch. Then I shared what my investigators found at the prison Jay and Angelo had raided, and they let me know the half-dragon, Konstantin, was going to stay in the pack for the foreseeable future.

"Posy put her foot down, did she?" I snickered.

"Of course she did," Cole grunted. "Ariel called it. She's a sucker for the underdog."

"And that's not a bad thing," Jay said.

"Not at all," I agreed.

Just then, Lilah's anxiety twanged through our mate bond. As I linked her words of love and encouragement, I wondered if I should go home and get one of my minions to show the alphas where the Everleighs lived. A quiet voice, however, interrupted my thoughts before I could.

"Hello, King Julian."

I turned to smile at the tiny luna who stood in the doorway and twisted her fingers together, but she held her shoulders back with her chin up. Her posture alone said she'd healed a great deal since I met her, and I couldn't help but smile at her progress.

"Hi, Luna Posy. It's a pleasure to see you again." I got to my feet and held out my hand.

She swallowed hard and came toward me, but ignored my hand and hugged me.

"I'm allowed to do this, right?" she whispered as I very carefully wrapped my arms around her tiny self.

"Of course. Hug me any time. Well, maybe not in the middle of Lilah's coronation," I teased her.

Blushing, she cleared her throat and took a step back. I immediately dropped my arms and also stepped back. Mase half stood and looped his arm around her waist and pulled her to him.

"I thought you'd sleep longer, baby," he murmured as he sat her on his lap.

"Did you find my father's family?" she ignored him to ask me, her eyes wide and hopeful.

"I did. Well, my dad did. He wanted to make up for the wrong of believing Alpha Briggs. He wants to apologize to you when you meet at the coronation."

"I don't need an apology, but I understand why he may want to give one," she murmured with a smile.

What a great mate and luna my friends had found! After being so badly broken, she still had the strength to comfort others and the capacity to forgive. In her shoes, I didn't know if I could have been so brave.

"If you'd like to meet the Everleighs, I'll take you there now," I told her in a gentle tone, mindful of her earlier tears and the alphas' overly protective natures.
