I’m so lost and don’t know what to do.
How to fix this.
Us.
“You should have told me. I feel like it was some fucked-up game.”
“You were never a game. You were—you were everything,” I say as I clear my throat.
She attempts to peek up at me, but I hold her tight, locking her in my embrace with my chin resting on the top of her head. I don’t want her to see me on the brink of crumbling.
“Were you ever planning on telling me the truth, or were you just going to keep me in the dark forever? Maybe once Gage came to collect me, you’d start writing to me again, and I’d never know that the guy I fell in love with was a fucking liar.”
The club and everyone in it fades away as her words wash over me.
She fell in love with me? Me.
I grip her tighter as my heart beats painfully in my chest.
She jerks out of my hold and faces me; tears rim her eyes. Fuck me. I hate the look on her face. She looks down, and I grab her hand.
“I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for lying, or sorry for getting caught?”
“I’m sorry for everything. Let me make it up to you.”
Her brows scrunch together. “How?”
“Anything you want,” I blurt.
A small smile appears on her lips, accompanied by a subtle twinkle in her eye. “I already told you that’s a bad choice of—”
Rosie’s complexion drains as someone unexpectedly dashes into her field of vision. I turn and see Gage running after a girl in an angel costume.
With an indecisive expression, Rosie glances back at me with a sad smile before sprinting in their direction. I scramble to catch up to her.
The girl in the angel costume and Rosie exchange a look before holding hands and running out with another girl in tow who looks like... poison ivy? This night keeps getting weirder.
I catch up with Gage as he heads to the front of the club. By the time we make it past the threshold, the girls are already jumping into a car and speeding off.
“Motherfucker!” Gage yells into the air and holds his head.
“What the fuck happened?”
“She ran when she figured out it was me.”
Fuck. That’s not good. Seems like his plans for ‘Operation: Get Her to Fall for Me’ are failing epically. The poor fuck looks crushed.
Trey, Marcus, and Julian run out a second later. Tonight, they were compensated exceptionally well for their duties as bouncers, while Axl has remained mysteriously absent all night. They would have done it for free had he only asked.
This is the ultimate playground for them. An unlimited amount of sin.
Trey removes his mask. “Which one of you fuckers made poison ivy run? We’d just barely started having our fun.”
