Superstar Influencer, Darcie James, Loses Four Million Followers In 48 Hours After Problematic Tweets Get Resurfaced.
James’ troublesome Tweets were exposed earlier last week but were swiftly forgotten due to lack of authenticity. However, her questionable choice of comments was kindly backed up by sources delving into the influencer’s other social media accounts, where several other comments can be seen.
Darcie James is yet to comment on this situation, but we can be sure that her crisis team is whipping up a statement as we speak.
I quickly scrolled through the article, getting a good feel for what these Tweets said and why they’d caused so many people to unfollow her and begin her cancellation. It became clear after reading just one of them why the cancel culture army had begun their attack on her, turning the unfollow button into a loaded gun. Each white square I threw my eyes on was more sinister than the last, and made me feel as sick as Nate looked.
“Can you believe that shit? How fucked up do you have to be to even think those things, let alone tweet them out into the world.” Nate said, grabbing his phone from my hands and slipping it back into his pocket.
I looked up at him, still trying to register what I’d just read. The Tweets displayed some disgusting comments about plus-size people, horribly demonstrating how fat-phobic Darcie is. That was something I never even knew about her. When we were together, she was a squeaky clean, straight-A, wannabe superstar with a permanent halo.
But clearly, before she became well known, she’d thought that nonchalantly sharing her prehistoric thoughts on the plus-size community was a step in the right direction to achieving stardom. And now, thanks to the genius who decided to do some digging on her, the world knew it too.
I couldn’t bring myself to form any sort of sentence. Her words had truly stunned me to silence. Nate looked the same, equally disgusted but happy that she’d been caught out. When she left me, I never wished her any ill will. I just wanted to forget she existed after hurting me so badly.
Was this karma finally doing what it did best? Possibly.
Did that make me a tiny bit happy? Regrettably.
Did I feel bad about relishing her downfall? Absolutely not.
“You okay?” Nate asked, colour now seeping back into his cheeks.
I snapped my head back towards him. “Yeah, fine. Just… thinking about how much I want to meet the person who found those tweets, and thank them.”
That got a chuckle out of Nate as he walked over to the couch on the other side of the room and collapsed down on the squeaky leather. “Have you ever heard from her since… you know.”
I shook my head. “No.” I dropped my head briefly before lifting it back to face him. "She got what she needed from me, she has no reason to talk to me anymore.”
And I didn’t want her to. Trying to get in touch now would be cruel, and unnecessary. Until today, she had a bigger following than me; why on earth would she want to talk to me?
“So,” He cooed, and I sensed he was changing the subject thankfully, leaning his elbows on his knees and clapping his hands together. “you and Florence. Care to tell me what’s going on there?” A mischievous smile rested on his face.
“What do you mean?”
His head fell back. “Don’t even try hiding it, J; she’s been glancing at you; you’ve been staring at her. I’m scared to approach you two at lunch because of how intense whatever you’re arguing about looks, even though you’re both smiling while you do it.”
Damn it.
“So please, for the love of God, tell me. What’s the deal with you two?”
My spine straightens out, and I let out a cough. “Well, I’m not sure, actually. We’ve gotten to know each other, kind of. I took her to The Rolling Pin a few weeks back, we baked… because she’s a baker, and wants to own her own bakery someday… it was fun… ” Nate’s face morphed into a look, prompting me to continue. “And… wemayhavekissed.”
“Are you serious?”
“Twice.”
His face lit up, which shocked me. “Congrats, man, that’s awesome!”
I served him a cocked brow and narrow eyes. “I thought you didn’t like her?”
“I never said I didn’t like her; I was just worried you were getting into something too fast, so soon after…her.” He let out a quick laugh. “But I think we can all agree that Florence is nothing like that.”
“Thanks… but, I don’t even know if she wants something like that man. We’ve barely spoken since that night, and I’m worried that I may have… scared her off.”
I didn’t want to go into the whys and hows about why I felt like that; that part of the story wasn’t mine to tell.
“I’m sure things will be fine. She’s a cool girl; she’ll do the right thing.” He stood up off the couch and walked toward me, crashing his hand down on my right shoulder.
