Showing Maddy the hellscapes today was hard. It brought that fateful day and all the unanswered questions back to the forefront of my mind. After all these years, I still don’t know how it happened. It shouldn’t have been possible. She should have been completely safe anywhere in Hell. These thoughts spin through my head as I enter my suite after sending Maddy back to her mates for the day. It’s the only reason I don’t immediately notice something is wrong.
As I make my way to my bar for a glass of Rieken, I finally snap out of my thoughts, realizing Snowball is not nipping at my legs wanting attention. Looking around for her I’m instantly on high alert when I don’t immediately see her. Where in Hell could she be?
“Snowball! Here, girl!” I holler as I storm around the room looking everywhere for her. But she’s not here.
The only reason she would be out of my suite without me is if Megroth took her out. But she did not tell me she had plans to take her out today, nor did she leave a note. Not wasting any time, I summon her. I can tell by the look on her face that she not only knows why she’s here, but I’m not going to like what she has to say.
“Speak,” I demand, knowing there is no need to elaborate.
“I don’t know where she is, Sire. When I came by to check on her earlier, she was gone.” My blood is boiling, but I wait for her to continue. “I reported her disappearance to Belzar and Zarreth personally,” she stammers as she wrings her hands in front of her.
My team knows about this and didn’t tell me?!
“Dismissed,” I bark with a wave of my hand, sending her back to where she came from. With another wave, both men are standing before me.
“Explain,” I growl at my security team.
“She’s gone, Sir,” Zarreth says simply.
“What do you mean she’sgone?!” All the glass in the room shakes at my bellow.
“We’re searching for her, your highness. We will find her,” Belz declares, but I am not pacified.
“Why was I not immediately informed?” I snarl.
“You were gone, Sire. We were hoping to resolve the situation before you got back,” Zarreth tries his hand at placating me. I notice the hitch in his tone as he speaks, a reminder of the secret 'mission' the two of us took together. I have tried to curb my tone with him in the years that followed, but not today.
“Well, you didn’t, did you?” I sneer.
“No, Sir,” they say in unison.
“Where are Oz and Zephyr?”
“They’re both tracking down leads, Sire. We expect them back shortly,” Belz explains.
“Find them! You shouldallbe out there looking. Do not return until she’s found,” I order, sending them away.
I’m going crazy with worry as I wait for word that Snowball has been found. It’s been too long. They should have found her by now. Where the hell could she be? I have to do something to work off this anxious energy, so I retire to my torture room. Nothing else would be able to distract me from my dark thoughts. And I haven’t visited my lovely daughter in some time. I’m sure she’s ready for another session.
“Hello, daughter. Have you recovered from my last visit yet?” I greet her as I close the door behind me.
Her eyes widen and I smile before I notice she’s not looking atme. Turning my head to see what she’s looking at, I’m shocked to see both my sons chained to my walls.Curious. How did they get in here?
My eye catches on a small pink paper on Bartleby’s chest. I walk across the room to where he’s chained and laugh out loud as I start to read the note.
I’ll explain later. But just so you know, your kids are kidnapping assholes. <3 Maddy
Kidnapping? Is she trying to say these fuckers kidnapped her too?! What the fuck is wrong with my demon spawn? If one more person, demon or not, kidnaps my granddaughter, I’m going to kill someone.
“You kidnapped Madelyne? Did you learn nothing from your sister?” I sneer.
“Of course, we did,” Bartleby spits. “And we would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for your lap dog sneaking up on us.”
“You should know better than to underestimate Oz,” I chuckle darkly. “You’re lucky he didn’t begin your torture without me… Whydidn’the? It’s not like him to leave not one but two victims tied up without inflicting any pain.”
“He had somewhere else he needed to be,” Droxley snarks from across the room.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I growl.
