“What’s that smell?” Harkin asks as he walks into the room. “It smells familiar. Oh. Hello.”
“Hi.” I smile. They may not know who I am, but they’re the same guys I met this weekend. That’s comforting.
“I’ll leave you to it. Wells, come on. Give them some privacy,” the fireman that brought us upstairs says as he clears the room.
“Thank you,” I murmur.
“What’s this about?” Luca demands.
Not answering, I walk up to him, grab his face, and pull him down, kissing him until his body relaxes and he reciprocates the kiss. His arms wrap around me and he pulls me against him. I know the exact moment the spell is broken, but we don’t break apart. This moment is about more than breaking a spell. It’s about resolidifying our connection.
“Damn, Boss. Get you some!” Jett cheers.
Luca pulls back, chest heaving as he stares at me. “What happened, bella? How did I forget you? How do they not know who you are?”
“Cybil and Nicole found me. Cybil cast a spell to make all of you forget me. It was awful.”
“What’s going on, Boss? Who’s the girl?” Harkin asks.
Luca looks at me then smirks. “Kiss her and find out.”
Harkin’s eyes widen and Jett’s jaw drops. “You just kissed her. Isn’t she your girl?” Harkin asks, baffled.
“She is,” Luca agrees and my heart starts to heal piece by piece. “But I don’t mind sharing.” He winks. “Lila? Do you want Harkin here to kiss you?”
“Yes, please.” I look at Harkin, my sweet phoenix, and beg him with my eyes.
“If that’s what you want, who am I to say no?” He sidesteps Luca and reaches for my hand.
Smiling at the sweet gesture, I place my hand in his outstretched one. His touch lights my skin on fire. I step closer to him, drawn to him even now when he doesn’t know who I am. He caresses my cheek with his other hand and slowly leans down, brushing his lips against mine. He moans and deepens the kiss.
“Holy shit.Whatis going on?” Jett sputters, and Harkin pulls away.
“I’m so sorry, Dove. I can’t imagine how you felt when we didn’t know you anymore. Fuck, Dove.” Harkin shakes his head and I hug him.
“It’s not your fault. You couldn’t have done anything about it. I’m just glad I have you back.”
“Harkin,” Jett snaps, getting his brother’s attention. “Who is she?”
“She’s our mate, brother.”
Jett’s eyes widen and he stares at me. “Mate?” His eyes go unfocused before he blinks. “It’s true. My salamander agrees. How can you be my mate and I not instantly know it on sight?”
“It’s a spell. It makes you not know who I am, but it only affects your human side. Your animal can still feel the mate bond, even if you can’t,” I explain.
“Kiss her, you idiot. It’ll break the spell,” Harkin tells his twin.
Jett doesn’t have to be told twice. He pulls me from his brother and fists his hand in my hair, tipping my head back as he seals his lips to mine. It’s the first time he’s kissed me while fully clothed and he doesn’t even know who I am, but the passion is still there. It’s like his body still remembers even if his mind doesn’t. His hands trail down my body until he reaches my ass. He squeezes it and lifts me off the ground. My legs naturally wrap around his waist and I moan into his mouth.
“Okay, Jett. That’s enough. Youarestill at work, you know,” Luca grumbles.
Jett pulls away with a laugh. “Sorry, Boss. I don’t know how you can miss something you didn’t even know was missing, but damn, is it good to have you back, Bumblebee.”
I don’t want to cry, but I can’t help it. Tears fill my eyes and I try to sniff them back. “I’m glad to have you back too, Jett. All of you,” I say, looking around at my men surrounding me.
“Jett, put her down,” Luca orders. “Tell me they’ve been taken care of and won’t be a problem anymore.”
Jett grumbles but sets me down. Only for Luca to scoop me up and carry me to the couch where he sits down with me on his lap. I can’t help but laugh at Jett’s disgruntled face.
