“My apartment burned down last night, and I woke up in bed with two guys.” My words are rushed and sound erratic, just like I feel.

“I beg your finest pardon?” I nod and bite my thumbnail.

“You heard me just fine.” I wipe my hair out of my face and pace in a corner.

“Please tell me the fire is a metaphor for the hot threesome sex you had.” I laugh, shaking my head like a fucking loon.

“Nope, real fire and still a fucking virgin. Can you believe this shit?” The words are out of my mouth so fast that it isn’t until someone clears their throat reminds me I’m not alone.

Oh fuck.

I turn and stare at two very different faces wearing matching looks of surprise and maybe a little lust. But what would I fucking know about that, right?

“Um, Annie. I need to call you back later.” I hang up on my best friend’s angry, screaming voice and clutch the phone to my chest.

“Can we pretend neither of you heard that?” Kai frowns as Seer steps forward with a cheeky grin.

“Absofuckinglutely not.” His voice is hoarse, and his eyes are darker than I’ve ever seen them.

Great.

“I think I need a drink.” Kai opens the bedroom door to find a small woman wearing boxers and a white see-through bralette.

“What the fuck is going on?” Her voice is high-pitched and semi-angry until her eyes land on me.

“Who the fuck are you?” I glance at Kai and then Seer.

“Phoebe, we can explain,” Kai says, and my heart drops to my ass.

Seer’s guilt is written plainly on his face.

“I’m no one—just an employee at Spirits. My apartment burnt down last night, and these two were kind enough to let me stay here. I’ll be gone before you know it.” I nod and smile at the woman, who is clearly their lover.

The last thing I want to do is be a homewrecker.

“You aren’t going anywhere, Baby.” He turns to Phoebe and growls two words.

“FAMILY MEETING.”

Igrab Phoebe’s arm and pull her out into the hallway before letting it go.

“We’ll be right back, Cher. Don’t you move.” Kai closes the door to my bedroom and glares at our partner.

“What is wrong with you?” He growls, and I place my hand on his chest.

“Stop, not here.” I point down the hall to Phoebe’s room, which is soundproof for our extracurricular activities.

“What’s wrong with me? You bring another woman into our home, and I’m the fucking problem?” Phoebe stomps away, and I sigh.

“Way to go,” I mumble at Kai as I hurry to catch up to her before she slams the door and locks us out.

“Not so fast,” I catch it when she attempts just that.
