“I feel so wicked.” I smile.
“Good.”
Chapter
Twenty-Two
LEAH
By the time we finish boarding up the windows and sandbagging the doorways, it’s late. The club organized the supplies and passed out pillows and blankets before grilling enough food to feed an army.
Judge and Karma went home a few minutes ago.
We’re all sitting in the courtyard, enjoying the last few minutes before the first bands of the storm hit.
“Kai just called. We already have water in the house, so they’re going to stay to do damage control.” I frown.
“Should we go help before it gets too bad to drive?” Seer shakes his head.
“No, baby, I can’t leave. My place is here. They have it all under control.” He brushes his lips against mine before sitting behind me on the lounge chair and pulling me up to lie on his chest.
“It’s so peaceful,” I sigh as I look up at the clear blue sky above us.
“Mother nature’s best deception. In less than an hour, the grayish black clouds will move in, and we’re going to feel likewe’re in a horror movie.” He sips at a beer as I think over his words.
“I’ve never witnessed anything like this. I should probably warn you that I hate storms. A nasty Northeastern hit us when I was little, and a tree fell into my bedroom. It kind of traumatized me.” I shiver at the memory.
“Baby, I won’t let anything harm you.” He lifts my chin and kisses me softly.
We get lost in the touch and don’t pull away until we feel raindrops hitting us.
“Here we go.” He whispers.
“Everyone in!” He yells out as we gather our things and move inside.
Sandbags were stacked on the inside of the French doors, and the club worked together to shut the shutters and stack them up before going around the main room and lighting candles.
The wind picks up quickly, and the windows start to rattle. We decide to watch a movie, and about an hour in, the power goes out. Cowboy stands and excuses himself to start the generator.
I’m calm until I start seeing the rising water outside.
“Can we go upstairs?” I ask Seer in a slight panic.
“Hey, Baby, look at me.” I meet his eyes, and he smiles at me.
“Everything is okay. “ The lighting flashes, followed by a loud bang, and I jump out of my skin with a scream.
“Okay, come on.” He picks me up, carries me up the steps, and right to his room.
He closes us in, pulls his shirt off, and drops it to the floor.
“What are you doing?” I flinch at the lighting outside the windows.
I feel closer to them now than I did downstairs, and I’m about to rush him for the door. He must sense my panic and shakes his head.
“Strip Leah. You need to relax, and I know just how I want to help you.” He licks his lips.
“How?” I’m shivering, and I’m no longer sure if it’s from fear or arousal cause despite my fear of the storm, my panties are fucking soaked from the predatory look in his eyes.
