“Not true. She always comes here so you can feed her.” Grant chuckled.

There was no denying it. Jenna was a great cook, and Harry was a great eater.

Jenna blushed. That was probably the first compliment he had ever given her. “Thank you.”

He would make sure it wasn't the last. She seemed so happy that he had said something nice that it made him wish he had said more nice things to her.

“The food is all gone, and so is the wine. You should save your chocolate for later, and we really should get some sleep now," Grant suggested.

Jenna just nodded and began to clean everything up. He was sure she would stay up a little while because he didn't think she had time to refill her crock pots. There was still something she wasn't telling him, although the largest secret was probably her mother being killed by George. She now knew his secrets, all of the important ones. Maybe she would tell him the rest when they had time to talk a little more.

He helped her clean up, but she was on her own when she got to the cooking part. Grant went ahead and showered and got ready for bed. Since they were together now, they would probably end up sharing a room as someone else would get his room, just not now. They didn't need the extra rooms now because they had the four rooms that had been built and the new storage room. That left the small older storage room available for whatever use they needed. Grant regretted that he'd never had the opportunity to talk to that guy that had bothered Jenna. It didn't matter anymore because they were all gone.

Chapter 5

Moving into the Future

Jenna got up in the morning and checked her crock pots. She then started fixing breakfast because at least half of those here would want some. Once breakfast was done and she ate some, it was hard not to sit and think and wonder if what they had thought was what would happen. If they were right, how much longer would they be here? Probably not for a long time. After Tyne and Moe had started coming around, then it hadn't been long before the others were gone. That had happened three times now, and if it happened again, they would be the fourth.

It was almost like there was some grand plan, and Tyne was included because he gathered the people needed to make the plan come together. Damon was the master planner, and Tyne made it all happen. If true, this whole thing was unbelievable. She had to admit that it was amazing that they could take out these horrible pack alphas and put better ones in their place. This gave the new alphas an advantage because they had help that the others who took over from a bad alpha hadn't had.

Taking over a damaged pack was never easy, not even with help. For an untrained alpha pair to attempt, it seemed impossible. It was true they could both fight and had security training, which covered some of the requirements to be an alpha. There were other things that neither of them would havea clue about. Jenna wondered how Moe and Tyne would present this to them and when. After already doing this three times, they were probably pretty good at it. People started coming out of their rooms, and some of them asked for breakfast, and she quickly got it for them.

Jenna needed to focus on her job because it was almost starting time, and there was usually plenty to do. She got the list ready and printed out, and she was just waiting for them to start asking for it. As usual, Grant was the first one to grab his list and check it out. Normally, he loaded his truck the night before, so he would leave right away. He gave her a smile and a wink, and then he was gone.

Now, the other teams approached individually and got their lists. Some tried to talk while their partner loaded the truck, but more of them were learning that they should help with loading the truck, too. Some had even learned from Grant and loaded the truck as soon as they arrived when what they had removed from the truck was still fresh in their minds. Most of those on the crew were getting better, but some of them had to be removed, and the office was better for it.

The last of them were gone now and headed to whatever they had selected as their first job. Their office was quiet, and that could get on her nerves at times, but better quiet than excessively noisy. Pocketing the phone, she went back to the supply room, checked supplies, and wrote down those that needed to be ordered right away. There was an excess of paperwork, and she jumped in on it and began to knock the pile down page by page.

One of the items she'd been given was to go through a lengthy list of potential new crew members. With the extra rooms added, another crew could also be added. A few of the applicants were obviously not going to make it. They had no experience, and they had no training, and why they had even bothered to apply, shecouldn't understand. They quickly went onto the no-go list, and she went to the next applicant. This one was promising because he had gone through security training about five years ago and had a personal reason not to take the job.

She didn't know why he'd been trained free, which was unusual. This was a chance for the company to redeem some of the money it had spent training him. The guy would be the first on the list of possibilities. By the time she was through, there were ten in each pile. They never threw away an applicant because you never knew what life would bring. Those who were not chosen and had no training or experience would receive an e-mail urging them to take the training. Most of them wouldn't bother.

Now she had to narrow down the list, and as she looked over the experience and training each of these had, Jason Malmar was at the top of the list with extensive training and years working for a company that no longer existed. Everything looked good, but there was no one that they could contact unless Rita, who had also worked for that company, knew him. Jenna decided it would be smart to go through the whole list in case other people had experience with that company. That way, she could ask Rita about all of them at the same time.

She narrowed the list to four people: three males and one female. It looked like all of them had experience from that same company. That made it time to call Rita. What she had to say would determine the final two choices.

“Rita speaking.”

“This is Jenna. I'm about to hire two new people. I have narrowed it down to four candidates. They all worked for a company that no longer exists. I thought it was possible you might know some of them.”

“I might if they were with the company for very long.”

“This first one was with the company for fifteen years. His name is Jason Malmar," Jenna said.

“Hire that man quickly. He was one of the best and had worked his way up to a supervisory position. Jason was smart enough to still go in the field regularly to keep up his speed and ability.”

“Okay. I'll call him when we are through. The next one is Sylvia Ruiz.”

“She had less experience, but she was still plenty good. Probably better than any of the ones you have except, of course, for you and Chase. Who are the other two?”

“Robin Lister and Henry Smith.”

“Robin is a clown.”

“So don't hire him?”

“Definitely hire him. That man can keep everyone laughing and happy even through the worst possible times. The other one, don't hire him. I could never imagine why they kept him on, and I thought he must have been related to somebody. He was awful and never did his job. If I were you, I would hire all three of them and ask for forgiveness later.” Rita admitted.
