Every time she was with him, it seemed more exciting and fulfilling. They romped around the shower for about half an hourand then went downstairs, where she fixed him a meal and got one for herself. That was when Robin showed up.

“Could I buy a bowl of that from you?” Robin asked.

“Stew or chili?”

“Stew sounds good. Maybe I'll try the chili next time.”

She made him a bowl and handed it to him, and he sat beside Grant. “This is Grant, and you'll be training with him tomorrow. Grant, this is Robin, and he came early.”

“We're always glad for the extra help. Jason trained this morning, and he's on his own now. Your old company did things similar to the way that we do. I also feel you'll be on your own quickly.”

“I hope so. Will be good to get back out there doing the fieldwork.”

“Be careful. We've had some crazy people running loose out there pretending to be security specialists to get inside people's houses.” Grant explained.

“I heard something about that and wondered if it was true.”

Jenna figured there was no way not to warn them at this point. It was also likely that anyone like Robin would have heard about what was happening. To not tell them would look suspicious and put them at risk. While Robin and Grant ate and chatted, she ate a large bowl of chili. That wasn't going to be enough. She'd heard stories about how much food someone going through a change could eat, but she hadn't believed it. Jenna got another bowl, but this time, she got stew. That would do for a little while.

Grant stood up and said goodbye to Robin before he came over and kissed her, then headed out the door.

“I see you two are mated. It's a recent thing, is it not?” Robin asked.

“You're right. It makes things a little difficult, but our bosses are helpful and understanding most of the time.”

“That's an improvement over my old bosses.”

“You might even get a bonus if you work hard and do well. Tyne and Moe are big on bonuses if you do well," Jenna explained. “You'll figure it all out before long.”

“I probably won't come back down until supper time. Do you have food for that, too?”

“I'll have something if you're hungry.”

She was glad that Robin went back to his room. Tyne had outdone himself because they had TVs and some kind of cable in the room. Cable was a good distraction in an area with little entertainment. Jenna figured that was why they allowed her to cook food here, too, because it was hard for the people to find food to eat, and not everyone could fix it for themselves. It was hard to find something for lunch in some of the areas they had to go. This was also an expensive place to live, and Jenna tried to set a fair price for good food.

Jenna could not deny that she was looking forward to getting to a more populated area with some food and entertainment options. There were good points in living in an area like this under certain conditions. Had she and Grant had their own cabin, and he had time to hunt, things might not be so bad. Part of it was their fault because they were trying to save money. They could probably take off some time every week to hunt and find entertainment, but they were both trying to save money.

Lunch was over, and she needed to get back to work. She hurried through her paperwork, getting everything done as best as possible. There were no phone calls, which made it easier. She returned to the supply room and saw what she needed to order to keep the trucks fully equipped. That had to be checked daily because you never knew when a certain item would be used.

Chapter 6

The Visit

They had been waiting for nearly a week and shared the news with the others because they felt they needed to know. Some seemed happy about it, but others seemed to dread it. Grant couldn’t understand why most of them would care. The new guys were curious and wanted to meet the bosses, and he could understand that. A few of the employees who had been there a while seemed to be worried as if they thought they would lose their jobs. He didn't think that had anything to do with why they were coming, but he didn't want to assure anyone that their jobs would continue as it was because he really didn't know.

A few days passed, Sylvia was working with Jason, and Robin was working independently. They were fast and nearly caught up, which was a good thing because Tyne was about to extend the area they covered. From the amount the phone rang, he also ran some kind of special, and it was drawing people in. It had been tough, but Jenna had made it through her heat without missing too much work. Some of their team had not even noticed, although others clearly had.

She had to cook more food, and he helped her a little. The money she was making would help her support her grandmother and her young daughter. She had finally told him about them. Grant thought he now knew everything about her and that she knew everything about him. He felt they were growing closer, and their relationship would be solid. In the morning, the bosses would arrive and finally find out what was happening.

Being mated calmed him and made life easier for him. The sex every night was great, too, and male wolves really needed that. They also talked a lot, and they seemed to agree on many things. A little disagreement was alright because it kept things interesting. They went to bed early because, in the morning, they would have company, and they wanted to be prepared. Jenna seemed a little tired, so he kissed her and wrapped his arms around her so she would sleep easily. It seemed they slept easily, and neither woke until morning. They ran around getting ready and finally went downstairs to eat breakfast, which Jenna cooked.

No one was there yet, which was good because they wouldn't want to keep them waiting. Jenna had cooked extra because she knew that Harry would be hungry. While it was true that Harry was always hungry, she would be extra hungry because she would bring people with her, and traveling that way strained her magic. It was like just thinking about her made her appear. Grant didn't think he would ever get used to it, and it took everything inside him to prevent him from jumping.

“Here we are!” Harry said. “Got any food?”

“We sure do. I fixed some breakfast and saved a plate for you," Jenna admitted.

“You love me.”
