Hadley nodded and lifted her pacifier to her mouth again.

“Are you sad because maybe you want him to be your Daddy and he’s not?” Nate asked.

“Nate, I think you’ve asked enough questions for today. Let Hadley have some space. How about you come help me set out the nap cots?” Nanny J interrupted.

Mindy reached over and softly patted Hadley’s hand, just as Lori had. “I’m sorry Nate asked you so many questions. He just gets excited to meet new people.”

Hadley smiled. She liked Nate. She was just a tiny bit overwhelmed.

“Was he right though? Do you wish that man was your Daddy? He’s super hot.”

The same jealous feeling she felt before with Sadie filled her belly again. She didn’t like that Mindy thought Finn was hot.

Maybe.She tapped her card.

Yes,she corrected after a second to reflect.

“Did you realize it before coming to the Ranch?”

No. Today.She said, tapping.

“You just realized it today?”

Hadley nodded, thankful she had enough picture support cards to communicate.

“It’s the Rawhide Ranch magic,” Lori whispered.

“Do you know about the magic?” Mindy asked.

Hadley shook her head.

“Rawhide has special magic that brings everyone together. Friends become couples, second chance romances bloom, families get created. I think it’s even stronger during the holidays,” Mindy explained.

Hadley’s tummy fluttered with butterflies as she considered the possibility of leaving with Finn as her Daddy.

“Maybe you should tell him how you feel,” Lori suggested.

Hadley considered her words. Maybe she should talk to Finn. Even if he didn’t feel the same, it would be nice to just put it out there.

Chapter Eight

Finn peeked in the Caterpillars Room and smiled when he saw Hadley sitting with two other Littles. She was so beautiful. Nanny J saw him and waved him inside. He stepped into the classroom.

“He’s here,” one of the Little girls sang. Finn thought maybe she was Lori.

Hadley turned and shot from her seat when she saw him. Running, she hugged him tight. He ran his hands over her curls and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

“I missed you so much today, Peeps.”

She tapped his thigh twice.

“She is such a delight, Master Finn. We hope she joins us more during your stay,” Nanny J said.

“Thank you. I’m glad she was good for you all.”

“She was such a good girl,” Miss Samantha added.

“I’m so proud of you for being such a good girl, Hadley. Did you have fun?”
