Hadley was finally warm and full, and so very sleepy. Finn rubbed her belly softly. “You just relax, baby. I’ll stay right here with you,” he promised.
“All day?”
“All day, baby.”
Hadley reflected over her morning so far. She hadn’t liked going to the infirmary or having an enema and two shots, but she cherished the way Finn had taken care of her. He’d been so attentive and supportive.
Bending, he kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry you feel so yucky, little one.”
“Thank you for taking such good care of me, Daddy.”
“It’s a pleasure taking care of you, Hadley. I’m so lucky.”
“Shhh, it’s just Daddy,” Finn told Hadley as he checked her diaper.
She stretched and Finn kissed her tummy, making her smile.
“Where are my clothes?” she asked, realizing she was naked.
“You were pouring sweat, little one. I stripped you off so you’d be more comfy.”
“Thank you, Daddy.”
“How are you feeling now, Peeps?”
“Better.”
“Yeah?” he asked, observing her with a furrowed brow.
“Yes, Daddy.”
“Do you feel like eating? I ordered a few things and had them delivered for you.”
“What kinda things?”
“Some popsicles, apple juice, grape juice, some electrolyte drinks, and some yogurt that’s two different colors.”
“Oh!” That was lotsa things.
“Do you think maybe you could have a popsicle and some electrolyte drinks for me? Nurse MacIntosh said to push fluids, so you feel all better faster.”
“Yes, Daddy. I’m thirsty.”
“You rest here and Daddy will go get your snackies.”
“Nu,” she whined, poking her lip out.
He smiled indulgently.
“Do you need to come with Daddy?”
“Yeah, just to make sure you don’t get lost.”
“Oh, well, that would help. I don’t want to get lost.”
She nodded. “I’m a good helper.”
“The best,” Finn chuckled, picking her up from the bed and carrying her into the kitchen. “What color popsicle?” Finn asked, opening the freezer.
