“That’s enough, Miss Donovan.” The officer holding me replies, shifting my arms up higher so I can’t move. “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law.”

I tune the arresting officer out. I’ve been through it before and I know the drill. Craning my neck toward Aftermath on the other side of the room, I shout. “I’m sorry, Aftermath. I love you.”

“I love you, Tiger. Don’t worry, we’ll get you out.” Aftermath shouts back.

The arresting officer hauls me out the door and into the back of his car. Within fifteen minutes, I’m sitting in a jail cell, alone. I’ve really screwed up this time. I’m supposed to be getting married tomorrow, not sitting in a jail cell up shit’s creek without a paddle. But then again, it wouldn’t be me if trouble didn’t find me.

I hope Aftermath can pull through and get me out before we’re supposed to get married tomorrow.

AFTERMATH

“Fuck!” I slam my fist on the table, shaking it from the force while I watch Kensi being hauled away in handcuffs. When she’s out of my sight, I start pacing, agitation thrumming over my skin. The buzz I had from drinking earlier evaporates, leaving a pounding headache in its wake.

“Easy, brother. If you get arrested, you won’t be able to help her.” Capone rests his palm on my shoulder, holding me in my seat.

My body vibrates with rage when I lock eyes on Lynn who is talking to an officer. She flashes him with a seductive smile and adjusts her top so her chest is more exposed. Her eyes land on me and she smirks, giving me a wink. What the actual fuck? Is this chick psycho or something? I stand, ready to attack the bitch when Capone and Blayde stand in front of me, blocking me from going after her.

“Not right now, Aftermath. Now we have her details and justice will be delivered for fucking with one of our own.” Blayze puts his hands on my chest, keeping me back. “Let Red do his thing and then we can get Kensi out.”

“Fuck!” I growl, scrubbing my hands down my face in agitation. “We’re supposed to get married tomorrow and we can’t do that with Kensi locked up.”

“We’re going to give them some time to get her processed and you to sober up then we’ll go to the precinct and see what we have to do to get her out. Right now, I need you to stay calm and level-headed.”

“I am sober but I can’t just sit here and do nothing!” I shout, throwing my hands up in the air.

“You’re not doing nothing, you’re leaning on your brothers in a time of need. Suck it up and take the fucking help.” Capone demands shoving me into my chair.

I sit with a hard thud, my weight making it groan in protest. I rest my elbows on the table and rest my head in my hands. “What can we do?” I ask quietly.

“Red has already left with Nadia. When he gets to the Clubhouse, he’s going to get Bones and the three of them will do what they can to get her out. Until then, you need to remain calm. Once Knight gets here, he’s taking the rest of the girls home along with Torch, Blayze and Derange. Then the rest of us will head to the jail and see what we can do.” Capone calmly relays what’s going to happen and it makes me calm as well.

“Fine, but I won’t let a little badge stop me from marrying Kensi tomorrow,” I grumble.

Lynn smiles at the police officer while running her fingernail down his chest. She bats her eyes at him and my stomach rolls. I stand up from the table, anger radiating through my body at the nerve of this woman.

“Where the hell are you going?” Capone demands.

“To the bathroom, if that’s alright with you, Prez,” I respond, not keeping the snarky attitude out of my voice.

“Fine, but don’t do anything stupid,” Capone acknowledges.

I head for the back of the club but instead of going into the bathroom, I shoulder my way out the back door. Once I’m standing outside, I inhale the crisp night air deep into my lungs. My head clears a little more and I stare up at the sky, wishing this night had gone differently. Kensi is always finding trouble, or trouble always finds her, but I wouldn’t change her for the world.

Pulling out my phone, I begin to pace. I need to call her dad and let him know what happened. I dial his number and take a deep breath before putting my phone up to my ear.

“Something’s happened to Kensi.” Sheriff Donavan states, picking up the phone on the second ring. He knows if his phone rings this late at night, it’s nothing good and it has everything to do with Kensi.

“Kensi has been arrested and I don’t know if I can get her out before tomorrow.” I relay what happened tonight and can feel the tension coming from the other line.

“What the actual fuck?” The good Sheriff swears out loud. “Tomorrow is her wedding day, Aftermath. What are we going to do?”

“I don’t know, but I’m working on it. I wanted to update you so this didn’t come as a surprise.”

“I might be able to pull some strings. Sit tight and wait for my call.” Sheriff Donovan hangs up the phone before I can respond.
