I was not a fan of that change.
“Easy, Omega. I’m right here,” he told me before putting the device on speaker.
Watching him navigate through town while taking over the call sent my slick production into overdrive. I was a fucking waterfall in my pants.
Hopefully it wasn’t going to ruin his seats, but damn if I didn’t sort of like the idea. It would be another claiming mark from me for anyone else who rode with him.
Not that anyone would need to. This passenger seat had just become my designated spot. Why would I ever need to drive again with an Alpha like Maklihn to take care of me?
I knew my thoughts were going off the deep end. It was something I was far too aware of given the state of need building inside me.
But I didn’t care.
“Kris, it’s me,” my mate said.
“Hey, man. What’s going on? Why do you have Clynt with you?”
Maklihn let out a loud breath. “Funny thing about that. He came into the shop today and long story short, he’s my fated mate. We’re heading to my place now. It may be a bit before we come up for air.”
Kris whistled. “Holy shit! That’s awesome! I know you’ve been waiting for a while. How does he feel about it? You two need anything?”
“I’m good. Just need Alpha. Bye, Kris!”
Snatching the phone away, I ended the call before lacing my fingers with my mate’s again. I sighed the second we were connected. His touch brought me that much peace. It was euphoric.
“You’re going to be a handful, Omega. We’ll need to apologize to Kris later for your rudeness.”
I nodded, eager to agree as he pulled into a driveway. The house was simple on the outside, yet I couldn’t help but admit there was a welcoming presence about it that made my heart soar. This was a home. It was my mate’s home.
Now, it would be my home.
One where we’d become fully mated, where we’d conceive children, where we’d raise our family. It was going to the place where our most precious memories were made.
Tears filled my eyes at the thought. When Maklihn rounded the car and found me in distress, he panicked.
“What’s wrong? I’ll fix it. Whatever it is, we can change it.”
I gave a watery laugh at his words. “You don’t need to change anything. I love it all so much.”
“Then why the tears, mate?”
“They’re happy tears. I’m overwhelmed withhappinessfor this moment.”
My Alpha grinned at my reply. He tugged me from the car, then lifted me into a bridal style carry. I laughed as he jogged us over to the front door.
“Welcome home, mate. I hope you like it here.”
He crossed into the house and immediately I felt relief settle over me. While the space wasn’t decorated like any of those design shows I’d been obsessed with in my teen years, it’s definitely a home with really good bones. The rustic style makes me want to wrap myself in a blanket and nest right in the living room.
Maybe some other time. I had a knot to ride.
Remembering the excitement from earlier, I faced my mate with a mischievous grin. “I’d love a tour. Can we start with the bedroom?”
His burst of laughter felt like I’d just won a gold medal in relationships.I’m totally crushing this mate business.
Maklihn set off down a short hall and then to the right. There was an open door, which led to the main bedroom. I only got a second to take in the earth tone bedding and the black and white photos on the wall before I was tossed onto the bed.
I squealed at the quick movement. It cut off quickly when he climbed onto the bed and hovered over me.
