“Joe?” My voice was unsteady, panting. He kept up his relentless pressure on my length and I felt myself nearing my climax.

“What?” he asked, and then immediately pressed his lips to mine again so I couldn’t answer. My orgasm drew nearer, beginning to crest. I wanted more, but it was so, so close…

When he pulled back to let me speak again, I was nearly incoherent. I could barely moan and gasp as the pleasure filled me, my mate’s large body on top of mine, his strong hand around my length, his lips teasing my ear and neck and panting with his own pleasure.

“Want to taste you,” I said, and just the thought of it was too much. My body shook with ecstasy and I spilled my seed into my mate’s hot hand.

He continued to rub at my stand while I climaxed and that drew my pleasure out in an almost unbearable way, until at least I collapsed against the ground at my back and panted, totally spent.

At least, I’d thought I was spent.

Joe surged up, releasing my manhood and straddling my chest. His own manhood was swollen and red, wet with pleasure. My mate raised his hand to his lips and stuck out his tongue, licking a long swipe of my release from his fingers. I felt a jolt of pleasure at the sight.

My mate felt the pleasure of it, too. He roared as he climaxed, and his seed flew out of his length to land across my face and my lips. I licked them greedily, finally tasting my mate for the first time.

I felt a surge of power, the earth around me hummed with energy, and I was overwhelmed by the feeling of it and the rightness of it. For a second, it was as though I were back to my old self, before I’d been trapped.

Joe crawled off me and collapsed beside me, his chest rising and falling quickly.

“That,” he said, “was almost too hot.”

I smiled. My mate would be satisfied with me. I’d make sure of it. And, from the way my senses burrowed into the earth around us, I thought that perhaps I’d get my strength back faster, too. It was a theory I was happy to test, and often.

Chapter 26: Joe

Iwoke just before sunrise, to find myself draped over Terrund on the ground, a blanket over us both and our fox curled up at our feet.

I tried to pull away but Terrund’s arm tightened around me and his eyes opened. “Don’t go just yet.”

“I’m squashing you.”

“No, you’re not.”

I didn’t believe him and I was worried I would stop him from breathing properly. “We’re the same size. I’ve got to be too heavy for you.”

“No, you’re perfect. I like the feeling of you on top of me, and I can never be harmed by being pressed to the earth. Let me enjoy the sensation of my- of you so close for just a little longer.”

I mumbled, “If you insist,” and sank down again, settling my weight on his chest and kissing his neck. My lips pulled into a smile as I kissed him. It sounded to me like Terrund wanted me to be his boyfriend and had to stop himself saying it because he hadn’t asked me yet.

I’d love to be his boyfriend.

At last, my stomach began to growl and the fox stood up and padded away, disappearing into the undergrowth nearby.

Terrund peered down at me. “I take it from that sound that you’d like to get up now.”

Pressing one last kiss to his neck, I admitted, “Yeah, I’m hungry. Let me grab some food and then we can get started on our day.”

It was only when I was boiling the kettle for tea that I realised I’d said ‘we’. I’d assumed Terrund would be with me all day again because I’d enjoyed yesterday so much.

I looked over at him. He was standing still, watching me, looking breathtakingly beautiful in the morning light, the sun streaming across the field and painting the side of his face in warm golden light. He smiled at me.

“Do you have a job?” I asked.

He tilted his head and his face turned into that golden light, making him look like he was a statue – the most expensive statue in the world, pure gold and beautiful.

“No, I don’t have a job. Not in the way humans do.”

“But you have something you need to do?”
