“This being nice is going to be a huge adjustment for me,” I admitted. “I’m more accustomed to the demon way of life and there’s nothing nice about it.” I stepped even closer to him. “Will you help me?”

“You don’t need any help. You’ve been all sugar and spice all along. You just liked to believe you were mean.”

My lips brushed against his. “Will you please keep touching my wings? It feels delicious—makes my heart do funny things, too.”

“It does the same for me,” Az answered. “And, yes, I’ll treasure them and you for the remainder of my eternity. Our war of love and lust has lasted for centuries. I can only imagine how it’s going to be now that we’ve both admitted what we want.”

Smiling, I said, “Oh, I’ve always known what I wanted. Sometimes you’re just a bit slower on the uptake. Demon speed versus angel speed and all that stuff.”

He swatted my ass, just like I knew he would. “Take me to bed, angel.”

Az looked toward Nic and Beau. “How strong are you feeling?”

“Improved. Why?” Nic answered.

“I want to be alone with my man.” Looking over his shoulder at where Julian and Valen were still squaring off with Jarsan, he added, “And they need to be at Ravenwood. Transport them there and set a demon trap that will keep Jarsan locked within the grounds. We’ll return before week’s end. When we get there, we work on whatever magic it’s going to take to release Sacha from Jarsan’s hold.”

Nic stood up and gathered Beau, Gabriel, and Marchand around him. They started chanting words that meant nothing to Az or me, but most certainly would one day. I nodded at them—just a slight movement of my head in case they rejected me.

“See you soon, brother,” Nic said and the room was suddenly empty except for me and Az.

He was finally mine.

Forever mine.

Epilogue

Azazel

A little over a month had passed since our battle in Rome. There’d been changes for all of us but most of them were good changes. Julian had offered Ari and me the use of a small cottage on Ravenwood property. I’d found it to be both comfortable and cozy, but Ari had used some Gaudet magic and turned it into something that looked like it belonged in a storybook. He’d been so proud of himself that I’d kept my mouth shut and simply basked in seeing the happiness on his face.

That night, after Nic had taken the others away, Ari and I had made love and then cuddled—like mortals do, I suppose. My heart had been overflowing with love and that love had only grown with each passing day. When I looked at him, it was hard to imagine all his beauty and brightness existing in the underworld. I was thankful he never had to return and if they came for him…well, it would get ugly.

We were all gathered in the library at Ravenwood—Marchand and his vampires, the witches and me and Ari. Julian was about to pace a hole in the wooden floors. I could sense the anger radiating off of him. Unfortunately, none of the spells the Gaudet brothers had conjured so far had any luck removing the connection Sacha had with the sex demon. So, as it stood, the sex demon was at Ravenwood for now—which is why Julian was pacing the hole in the floor.

Ari nudged me. “What are we doing?” He whispered.

“Supporting each other,” I answered. “Julian and Valen are losing their shit over Sacha and Jarsan, so we’re here to listen to them complain and try to come up with a solution.”

Tilting his head, he answered, “Interesting concept. We didn’t do this in the underworld.”

“I didn’t figure you did, babe,” I answered and pulled him onto my lap. He snuggled against me without hesitation.

“I’m not sure this is very supportive of their situation, but I’m enjoying it.”

Julian stopped pacing and stared at us. “You two do realize we can hear you, right?”

“Of course, we do, Julian,” I answered. The vampire was mad but not at any of us—just Jarsan…and maybe himself. He blamed himself for not keeping Sacha safely away from the battle. “What can we do to help?”

Valen stood up and ushered Julian over to the sofa and shoved him into a sitting position. Once there, Valen curled in next to him and patted his hand. “Calm down, Julian. This will work itself out. Sacha is strong. He can handle himself.”

“Handled himself really fucking well on the battlefield, didn’t he?” Julian growled. A banging noise from upstairs had him jumping to his feet.

Valen tugged him back down. “He’s fine. Leave it be.”

Julian sat back down, but his eyes glowed red. “I don’t like leaving Sacha alone with that beast! There’s no telling what the demon will do to him if I’m not there to stop him.”

Valen laughed. “Well, maybe you shouldn’t have critiqued his…performance so-so… critically. I don’t blame the demon for forbidding us to watch over our child after some of the things you said about him!”
