Whizz’scomputers filled one wall of hisbedroom. She didn’t do well with technology, and the best she’ddone was accessing his games that kept her entertained. He streamedmovies into the room, and told her how to access them. She’dwatched no end of movies while in his room, not to mentiontelevision shows. He brought her breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including snacks to keep her entertained. To help her sleep, she’dstarted using his exercise equipment in the corner. She wasn’tgetting out much, and doing very little meant she was struggling tosleep. The exercise equipment kept some control over her weight.Whizz was huge, his muscles thick and rock hard. She’d tried tofind an ounce of fat on him and yet came away with nothing. He waspure muscle, hard-assed, and she still couldn’t kill him.The otherday he’d brought her an e-reader to start downloading books. She’dnever been a big reader and so that was left on the cabinet by thedoor.Books were useless to her. She’d never found pleasure intrying to escape in books.
At night, she fell asleepalone, butsome point throughout the night he’d join her. She’d wake in themorning with his arms wrapped around her.Lacey hated how much sheloved sleeping beside him.She felt like a traitor to the club ifshe gave into him.The Savage Brothers deserved something betterthan her giving into Whizz.
He stopped you fromdying.
She cut all thought off.Thinking about Whizz and what he did left her feeling thankful aswell as guilty. Her club should have known to get out of town.Instead they waited for her to do what she alwaysdid, and lookwhat happened. They’d died because she needed to see Whizz one moretime. After they ran out of the town hall she’d gone back home withDalton and Danny. She’d packed her bags but then headed to thedoor. For some reason she couldn’t bring herself to leave Butch atthe mercy of the club. She’d been there long enough to see TheSkulls’ anger directed at the brother.Dalton had begged her towalk away, but she’d told him she couldn’t.Butch had been one ofthem at some point, and she couldn’t leave him to take thefall.
Both men agreed to wait untilshe got back. After she told the truth she’d waited for Whizz, followed him backto the clubhouse. Her own selfishness was what killed the club.Shehad needed one more chance to see Whizz. If only she could have onemore glimpse of him, and for him not to hate her then she wouldhave been fine. What she wanted, needed, had killed theclub.
The guilt was unlike anythingshe’d ever felt before, and she’d been through a lot of crap to get towhere she was today. Her pussy was on fire from Whizz’s touch.Shehated him yet craved his touch as if she was starving forit.
Standing up, she moved away fromthe bed going through to his bathroom. His bathroom was covered inblack tiles. The only splash of color was from the light andsilverof thefixings within the bathroom.
She flicked the switch, lightingup the bathroom. There was no window for her look out of.Thebedroom only had one window that overlooked the front of thecompound. She’d stood behind the curtain watching the kids playwhen they’d been at the clubhouse.Eva spent a great deal of timeat the clubhouse as did the other women. She was surprised by howmuch of a family they were.No one was turned away even when thesweet-butts appeared. Her club never had a clubhouse orsweet-butts.She wasn’t a fool. She knew Dalton and Danny, along withall of the other men, took their pleasure in the women on the road. They’d moved around so often she couldn’t even think of a placewhere they put down roots.Fort Wills was the longest time theystayed in one place. She’d not celebrated Christmas since she was akid.
Lacey stared at her reflection.Dropping her head forward she saw her natural brownhair was starting toshow through. She’d have to ask Whizz to get her a hairdye.
Pushing hair off her face, she staredat her reflection. With Whizz knowing the truth she didn’t need tocover the ink that decorated her arms.
Glancing down at her wrists, shetouched the mark on her left wrist. It had been a patheticattempt, butwhen she’d been digging into her skin, she truly wanted todie.
She released her handsto hold onto theedge of the sink.Closing her eyes she tried to force all thememories out of her head, but it wasn’t going to happen.
****
Lacey, age sixteen
Opening her eyes to the beepingof the machine, Lacey groaned, turning her head this way andthat.Liftingher hands to her face, she frowned as they felt hard to the touch.Pulling her hand away she saw they were bound in whitebandages.
“What the fuck were youthinking?”Dalton asked, drawing her attention to beside her bed.He sat in the chair with his hands clasped together in between hislegs.
“What?”
His eyes were red as if he’d been crying.Dalton was tall and had yet to fill out.She always felt that, whenit came to him, a good wind would knock him over.
“You know what. What thefuck were you thinking, Lacey? You were just going to die onme?”
Guilt ate at her.Thetruthwas, she hadn’t even given him a thought. She just wanted it to end.Night after night she went to sleep dreaming the same thing, remembering the same pain. She couldn’t have kids because ofmistakes her parents made and those of the SavageBrothers.
“Do you even care about meat all?”he asked, standing to his feet.
She didn’t want to deal with this.“Where’s Danny?”Her throat was so dry her words came outcroaked.
“Why?So you can get him toget rid of me?I’m not going anywhere, Lacey.I refuse to.”Helifted her hand up for her to see.“You could havedied.”
“So?”
“So?”Tears filled his eyesand started to fall.“What do you mean so?You can’t meanthat.”
“It hurts all the time, Dalton.Ican’t sleep through the night without waking up in fear. The doorknocks, and I get scared.I pass men who walk like they did, and Iget scared.”
“Do you think I don’t getscared?I was there.I saw what those fucking animals did toyou.”
“It’s all yousee.”
He reached out to touch her face, but shecouldn’t handle his touch.
“Lacey?”
