“It’s all my fault becauseI came back to you.”

“What?”

She stayed still as she stared at him.“Iwas selfish.I needed to see you one more time.If I’d not come toyou, he’d still be alive.”

“No, he wouldn’t have been alive. The club was full of fucking idiots, Lacey. They were going to dieif you came to me or not.It just so happened I got you out ofthere alive.Their deaths were not your fault.”

She didn’t believe him, but his wordshelped for some strange reason.

Rolling onto her front, shepressed her palm to the tile and started to get up.Whizz stood upwith her.Hewas taller than she was, so she only came to his chest.

“I hate you,” shesaid.

“I know.”

She stared at his chest recalling theway he felt against her, not just that morning but the other timesthey’d been together. Not once had she thought about the club orDalton. She’d been a woman.

“I need to get out of thisroom otherwise I’m going to lose my mind.”

“I can’t let you out.Noone trusts you.”

“I’ve been locked up in thisroom. You need to take me to that house.”She stopped talking togrit her teeth. She looked away from him to glance past hisshoulder.“I need to see what has happened to it.I need to haveclosure, Whizz.I need this to suddenly become real.”

“Why?”

“Because right now I keepexpecting him to walk through that door and it’s never going tohappen. He’s never going to come home.”

“Dalton?”

“Yes.He’s dead, and I need toknow it’s over.”She fisted her hands at her sides. This was onlygoing to upset her. There was no way anything good could come fromher seeing the evidence of their death or the emptiness of whathappened.

“There are no bodies,Lacey.”

She nodded.“Please, let me go andsee.I’ll stay handcuffed to you if it’ll make you feel better.Ineed to see.”

Whizz stared at her for severalseconds.Neither of them spoke or moved.Lacey didn’t know whatelse to say to make him seeher point of view.

“I’ll go and talk to Tiny.Eat something or I swear I won’t take you anywhere.”

“I’ll eat,” shesaid.

He left, locking the door behind him.Whizz didn’t trust her, and she couldn’t blame him.She wouldn’ttrust herself either. This club wasn’t just a place for men to gettheir rocks off.

The Skulls was a family to the core.Tiny united them all within Fort Wills.Would she ever become partof their dynamic? The whole setup seemed too good to betrue.

Walking into the bedroom she saw theplate waiting for her.

She picked up the knife and fork.Thepancakes were no longer warm. She didn’t mind.Lacey ate throughthe stack while watching the door.

Time passed. She didn’t know how muchtime had passed before Whizz opened the door.

“Tiny has agreed, but we’retaking Lash with us.”

“Why?”

“Tiny doesn’t trust you, and hedoesn’t want anything to happen to me.”He carried a pile ofclothing.“Angel gave me this.”

Finishing off the last pancake shetook the clothes from Whizz, heading into the bedroom.
