“Tell me about it.My access isdenied for everything. The two people Gash is looking for areprotected. He fucked off the wrong people.Either someone’sprotecting them, or I’m losing my fucking touch.”Again, he slammedthe keyboard across the desk, climbing off his chair, and pacingthe room.
Lacey sat in the middle of the bedstaring at him.
Pacing usually helped him.
“Have you thought aboutSally?”she asked.
“No.I’m not ready to have thisconversation with you, baby.We can’t take on ateenager.”
“She’s alone, and scared. We could help her.”
Whizz stopped to look at the woman heloved. He’d give her anything, and he was doing his best to get hera baby, but a teenager wasn’t right for either of them.
Lacey let out a sigh. She moved toward hiscomputer desk, and he winced at how she tapped on the keyboard. This was his computer, and his fingers flew across the keys, andlistening to Lacey’s attempts made him smile.
“Shut up,” she said when helet out a chuckle.
“I’m going to have to teachyou how to type.”
“I don’t spend hours on this damnthing. You’ve got your phone hooked up to it, and also a tablet. You’re barely away from the thing.I’m surprised you can fuck mewithout checking.”
“It’s why I love you being ontop, baby,” he said, moving behind her.He couldn’t resist kissingthe back of her neck.Licking the delicate column of her neck, hesucked on her pulse, nipping at her tender flesh. He traced one ofher arms, which was decorated in ink.
“Stop trying to distractme.”She didn’t tryto push him away.
“I like distracting you.”He caressed down her chest, stroking over her nipple. She gasped, and again, she didn’t fight him, or make any move to fighthim.
“Look at her, Whizz,” shesaid.
Reluctantly, he stared up at hiscomputer screen, and there was the young girl Lacey had been tryingto get him to adopt.
“She’s fifteen,Lacey.”
“So?Does that mean shecan’t have a chance at life? She’s been moved from ten differentfoster homes since she went into the system. We don’t know whatkind of life she’s had.The Skulls, our home, this could be theplace for her.”
They lived in a house not too far fromthe clubhouse. It was set back, and close to Tiny’s and Lash’splace. They all lived out of the clubhouse with Alex living thefurthest away near the edge of town.
“She’s a teenager.Ithought you wanted a baby?”
“I want to give people ahome.”
“People?”
“They’re kids, Whizz.Theydeserve a second chance.We’ve got time for a baby, and if wedon’t, I don’t care.This is what I want.I want to help a girl outlike me.Please, Whizz, please,” she said.
He hated it when shebegged.
“Lacey?”
“Please, please, please,please.”
She pressed her hands together, looking up at him, and pleading with her eyes.
Fuck.
“Fine.I’ll talk to thesocial worker, and arrange for us to meet Sally.”
Lacey squealed throwing her armsaround his waist.“I love you, I love you.”
