“You’re beautiful,” hesaid.

“I didn’t know you weredressing up.”She twirled a red curl around her finger, showing himhow nervous she was.

“I’m taking my woman out todinner.I’ve got to make an effort.”He turned to Baker.“We’ll beback later.”

“Have fun.I’m going tostick around, watch a movie.”

“Are you inviting Millieover?”Rose asked.

“I hadn’t thought aboutit.”

“Do.She’d probably love thecompany.”

“Don’t do anything on thecouch. It costs a fucking fortune to clean,” Hardy said.

Rose slapped him on the arm, rollingher eyes at him.“Ignore him.”

“Have a goodnight.”

Hardy took her hand, helping her into hiscar. The suit was fucking annoying, and itchy as fuck. There wasnothing actually wrong with the suit.He just wasn’t used to beingtrapped.

This he hoped was the first night ofmany.

Rose stared across the table at herhusband, and she couldn’t take her eyes off him.He filled out atux to perfection.Several women were giving him the eye, and Roseloved it.Hardy was all hers, and no other woman would ever get thechance to claim him.

“I like that evil glint inyour eye,” he said, looking over his menu at her.

“Just admiring the view beforeme.”She smiled at him looking over the choices in front ofher.

The waiter had already served her withsome sparkling water, and Hardy had taken the same.He wasn’tdrinking and leaving her to drive.

“Do you know what youwant?”he asked.

You.

She kept that thought to herself.“No, notyet.”

“I’m going to have thesteak.”

“Does it have steak?”sheasked, staring down at the menu again.Rose couldn’t take it allin. There was so much going on making the whole mealsurreal.

“They have something withbeef.I’ll just ask for that.”

Rose giggled and closed the menu.“I’llask for the chef’s special.”She gave Hardy a wink.

Over ten years of not going out to dinnerin a fancy place had her out of practice. She was used to beingsatisfied with only a burger or at the best a parmesanchicken.

Most of the time the women cooked forthemselves, and she’d eaten more luxurious meals with Angel and thegirls.

“How are you feeling?”sheasked.

He ran his hand down his chest, andshe chuckled.“What?”

“Is it uncomfortable?”Shehad to admire and love his effort. This was all for her. There wasno doubt that he was trying.

“A little. It’s something I’mgoing to get used to.”He cleared his throat.“I’ll get used toit.”
