“Who?” I had more questions, and it was now that I realized he was called the Reaper for a reason. Hearing he killed someone didn’t sit well with me, but I knew this type of life led you in dirty directions. And Reaper was the Reaper for a reason. No one killed like him.

“A man's wife.”

I blinked and blinked again. “So you killed someone like me?” As I said it out loud, my body twisted in concern.

“Yes, and now the man wants blood, and he will be after your blood if he finds out you exist.”

“So you killed a woman.” I don’t know how it sat with me. “On purpose.”

He went silent and just stared at me, rocking back and forth on his heels. “You know who I am, Abby. You always knew what I did.”

“Still, that didn’t mean I knew you were killing women!”

“It wasn’t like that, Abby, do you honestly think I would kill women if I had a choice? She had to be shown you don’t fuck with the club, and her man needed to learn to fear Satan’s Sons.” He grabbed my arms and pulled me up to stand in front of him. “Abby, I wouldn’t have done it if I knew it would get you in trouble.”

“That’s just it, Reaper,” Tears swelled in my eyes. “You didn’t even think about how this would impact you. That this man would want you dead. If someone killed me, you would go on a manhunt.”

“Which is why I need to clean up the loose ends.”

“You mean find him and kill him.” I arched my eyebrows and wiped away angry tears.

“Abby, it will only be a couple of months.”

“Only a couple of months.” I scoffed. “What about your child, have you thought about him or her?”

“Abby, once this man is dead, it will all be sorted.”

“I thought I’d be safe with you.”

“I’m going to be on the road hunting this cunt down. You are safe here with your dad. He won’t let anyone hurt you.”

“Don’t you get it, Reaper? There is only one person hurting me,” I pushed him in the chest, “and that’s you.”

I wiped away more tears and then pushed him fully away. I needed time to think. I needed fresh air. I walked out of the room, closing the door behind me.

Chapter 41

Abby

I had been up all night, and I hadn’t gone to bed yet. Reaper was giving me distance, and I knew that. Still, what he did didn’t sit well with me. What if someone decided to kill me just to teach him a lesson? Didn’t he realize the danger he had put me and our child in?

I knew being with a President was hard. I knew there would be times I would take the back seat and the club would come first. I guess this was one of those times. Still, the idea of Reaper on a manhunt to kill this man just blew my mind.

Which was why I was standing here.

I softly knocked on the door and then cracked it open, poking my head out. “Dad, are you awake?”

He groaned, and I took that as a yes. It was a little after three in the morning.

“Abby, what do you want?” Dad flicked on his bedside lap and sat up in bed.

“It’s about Reaper.”

“Guessing he told you then.”

I sighed nervously. “Yeah, he did.”

“So you understand it is best you stay here.”
