I started to think of the facts. This was too good to be true.
“So, if I say yes, I get to take them out?” I asked, trying to see how sweet the deal was. He was tempting me just to say yes now. Wiping out The Pythons was something I really wanted to do.
“I thought we could move on it tomorrow.” He shrugged and smiled. “Take marking our partnership early as my good faith in you.”
“You’re serious?”
“Their Mother Charter is having their family BBQ tomorrow. Most charters are coming in for it. So, we should be able to wipe most of them out quickly.”
This was Tae, always thinking ahead. He didn’t want a bloody, long, drawn out war. He wanted to do what he always did - set target, and kill and then move on to the next.
“I watched you get that mark tattooed Amber so I know you want this.” Tae lit up another cigarette and then handed it to me. “So, even if we wipe them out and you decide to turn me down on my offer, no hard feelings.”
I took the cigarette. “No hard feelings,” I repeated his words, with emptiness and shock.
“Talk to your brother and then get back to me about whether you want to make a move on The Pythons or not.”
I shook my head. “I don’t need to talk to Troy for this decision. The answer is yes. You have me completely on board for wiping them out.”
He smirked. “Good, cause I was counting on your aim to take those headshots you are famous for.”
I smiled, and nodded my head. He had me on board for this. I didn’t know about the partnership; I needed advice on that, and not a lawyer’s advice, but advice from someone else that had been offered a permanent role in the underworld and taken it.
Troy.
Because I couldn’t turn to Jax on this one.
Chapter 49
It was late when I pulled into the driveway. Tae and I planned tomorrow right down to the fine details; researched where we would set up and got the perfect spots from high ground. Their clubhouse was in the middle of rural land, with lots of trees and hills.
So we had plenty of great spots to pick from.
Tae’s men were already camping out and setting up. We were wiping them out as soon as their yard was filled with members and their party was in full swing.
I knew there would be children there; and women, but sometimes you have to weigh the odds which was something I needed to do now with Troy’s help.
I opened the front door, hearing them from outside.
The boys had set up in the lounge, and were watching football. They glanced at me, but their attention was on the football.
“Jax has been tied up with something at the club,” Adam said, his eyes on the television. “He would have called you, but he can’t. He said he will be back here tonight.”
“Right.” My eyes were on Troy as he reached for his beer. “Troy, I need to speak to you.” And all eyes snapped to me. They knew I always turned to Troy if I was in serious trouble or needed serious advice.
“What have you done?” Cole’s eyes were off the television and on me.
“Nothing. I just need to speak to Troy.”
“Well, go on then, he is listening,” Cole said smugly, knowing very well I wanted to talk to Troy in private. He was going to make me say it, wasn’t he?
“I need to speak to him in private”, I said, being forced to. I rarely turned to Troy in my adult life. When they had left, so had my ability to rely on him.
But when I was younger and he was around; when things got serious, when things got hard, when I got in trouble - I turned to Troy.
And that was what I was finding myself doing now.
Troy got up and told the boys to stop bickering. I followed him out of the lounge and up the stairs.
