Page 4 of Twisting You

Chapter 2

I opened my front door and tossed my school bag to the side of the foyer. You know you’re not from a normal home when you are greeted by a large tan wolf pacing the living room, even more dysfunctional when you know that wolf is your father.

Looks like someone got a phone call from the school; was I not trusted to pass the letter on? A sly smile crept on my face, when I remembered I hadn’t even gotten it back from Olivia.

“Afternoon, Daddy!”

I ignored his low growl as I walked through our enormous living room, past him and in the direction of the kitchen.

I heard his jaws snap behind me, but there was no way in hell I was changing so he could speak to me. The one good thing about the pack’s mind link is it was only in place when we were in wolf form. Thank god.

Pulling the fridge door open and grabbing a bottle of water. “I’m going to go to the gym and work on my fitness.” Turning around I watched his eyes narrow at me. His whole body filled the large doorframe.

I could hear dull footsteps above me. The thing that sucked about being the daughter of an alpha was we lived in the pack house. Think of a mansion, then blow it up three times as big; and that, my friend, is the pack house.

It’s on the outskirts of town and not all the pack live here; but nearly everyone has a room if they want it. It’s like a hotel, but I don’t get the pleasure of kicking anyone out at checkout time.

“I guess I will speak to you when you calm down.” I said lightly in my father’s direction as I walked towards the door. But I froze when a scent hit my nose.

Looked like I wasn’t getting out of it that easy.

“CHLOE! Explain to us why you’re being expelled!”

Turning around, I watched as my red-faced mother walked through the swinging kitchen doors.

“Look, it’s not my fault. It just happened!” I yelled in my defense.

“Dropping your grades down to the point of expulsion doesn’t just happen!”

I threw my hands up in the air. “What do you want me to do?”

My mother shook her head in disbelief. Her short black hair whipped across her neck. “I cannot believe you, Chloe! You use to be a perfect student.”

“Yeah, and I use to play with Barbies. But, ya know, things change.”

“What are we going to do with you?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “You guys are the parents.”

My mother scoffed and threw herself onto a bar stool. “Thanks for the reminder.”

I rolled my eyes. “What do you want me to say?”

“That you will at least try. We spoke to the principal and he has given you to the end of the semester to pull your grades up. We have really had to pull favors for this, Chloe. So please say you will try.”

I raised my hands. “No way am I going back! I already did my whole dramatic exit from the place. Please, please, do not make me go back!”

My mom arched both eyebrows and I heard my father snap his teeth together.

“Chloe, you are going back, as of Monday.”

“But the letter said—”

“And we said you are going back and you are going to TRY!”

I threw my head back and glared at the ceiling. I knew it was too good to be true! What’s the point of expulsion if your parents can make a phone call and reverse it!

“But I don’t want to!!” I stamped my foot. “It’s pointless, it’s not like I am actually planning on using my stupid diploma anyway!”
