“Oh that’s right, Chloe. Remind us again of your future plans. Oh that’s right, you don’t have any.”
I crossed my arms. “Well, I want to travel.”
“And that’s a career move right there.” My mother shot at me, while tapping her fingers on the bench.
“I don’t need a career. I plan to live here forever, because that’s what a pack house is for. And then when Chad takes over as alpha, I plan to continue to leech off him.”
Chad was my older brother and was next in line to be alpha. (Sucked to be him.)
My father let out a low growl.
“Great, our daughter the pack leech.” My mother rolled her eyes. “What an achievement.”
“Better than the pack whore or something.” I arched an eyebrow and sent her a taunting smile. “Anyway, life’s short. No point wasting time with my head in the books! There are places to see, people to meet and drinks to scull.”
My mother slapped her palm against her forehead. “Are you hearing this, Jeremy?” My mother tossed a look in my father’s direction. “And we thought she was going to be the easy one!” She shook her head slightly.
“So it’s settled? Awesome, I’m going to the gym.” I turned my back on them, with my fingers crossed.
“Monday comes, Chloe, and you are back at school. The places, people and drinks can wait.”
I uncrossed my fingers. Whoever said that it brought good luck was extremely wrong.

I opened my bedroom window and glanced down at the drop. Good thing I was a wolf. I smiled slightly as the night breeze whipped into my room. Tonight was going to be epic, or at least I hoped it would be.
The soft knocking on my door brought a frown to my face. I walked to the door and cracked it open slightly, so that the packed bags on my bed wouldn’t be in view.
“What are you doing here?” I narrowed my eyes at Xavier as he stood outside my door in all his glory.
“You’re parents said you needed help with your schooling.” He shoved his hands in his pockets, his eyes on the hallway carpet.
“And, of course, they phoned you.” I rolled my eyes.
“Well, I am a teacher.”
“A gym and health teacher.” I cracked the door open slightly more and brought my other hand to the doorframe. “Anyway, it would be unprofessional of you to give me extra time. I’m just another one of your students.”
Xavier let out a sigh and his emerald eyes locked with mine. “Stop being difficult, Chloe.”
If he thought this was difficult, wait till he saw what I had in mind for his classes for the next month.
“I don’t need your help. Thanks anyway.” I went to close the door, but he stopped me.
“Tell me what you are working on now then?” He arched an eyebrow.
“English homework. Olivia brought it around for me.” My voice was calm and didn’t flutter like it normally did when I lied to him.
“I can help you with it.”
“I don’t want you to.” I gritted my teeth. Being with him in a room filled with people was hard enough. There was no way I would survive being alone in a room with him. Anyway, I had plans.
Xavier’s hand was still firmly planted on my door, as he stared at me; my body was half hidden behind it.
“I know you need help, Chloe.”
I rolled my eyes. He was right. I would need help, if I actually planned on doing the work, which I didn’t. Right now he was making me late.
