Chapter 4
Haylee
A shiver ran down my body as I sat on the couch in Lucian’s room. Massie and I were watching Sabrina, and the damp clothes were causing me to freeze. Another shiver ran through my body. I had showered to get the blood off but putting back on damp clothes wasn’t pleasant. Because stupid me had left them on the floor of the en-suite.
“Haylee?”
I kept my eyes on the television. “Yes, Lucian.”
Silence followed and because of the silence, I looked in his direction. I found him standing there with a speechless look on his face. What had I done? I got up and moved around the couch. Massie was giggling on the couch, watching a television show that wasn’t aimed at ten-year-olds.
I arched my eyebrows at him, not sure what I had done. He wrapped his hand around my wrist and pulled me into the en-suite. One second I was so confused as to why he looked so startled and the next, the door closed and his speechless expression had ceased. Instead, determination crossed his face, his eyes flashed to my lips. I don’t know what I was expecting but for his lips to be on mine . . . well, I wasn’t expecting that.
It wasn’t sweet, it wasn’t gentle. He kissed me with aggression as if he was furious with me. A moan escaped my lips as he deepened the kiss, sending a growl from his mouth. And then I was up on the basin, and he was pressing against me.
His fingers moved down my shirt, unbuttoning my top, and dropping the damp top to the ground. Another shiver ran through my body, and he took a step back.
I watched in complete shock as he removed his vest, then his hoodie. How could he expect to have sex with his daughter in the other room?
A door was keeping us separate from Massie; and he had to know by now that I wasn’t quiet when it came to sex.
His T-shirt went up, and I caught a glimpse of his tattoos. I wondered what was the story behind them—I was positive there was a story behind each tattoo, just like mine.
He then extended the hoodie to me, and I looked at it. Unsure what he was doing because giving me clothing was a huge move. Considering he had just broken his routine of not kissing me.
“Just fucking take it, Haylee,” he growled at me. I was quick to take it off his hands, threading the warm jumper on. The warmness was a welcome to my skin, and I bathed in the feeling of it.
Finally, I began to feel warm like I had this morning before I was thrown out of the room. It now only occurred me that when Lucian had said his girl, he had actually meant his child. My eyes widened. He wasn’t speaking about a woman, though I’m sure Massie’s mum was still in the picture.
“Lucian?”
He looked over his shoulder at me. That same expression from when I said his name earlier was back on his face.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Entertain my daughter.” He then opened the door and closed it
This morning he didn’t want me near his daughter, now he was telling me to entertain her? What had changed?
I put my hands in the pocket, feeling a phone. Pulling it out, I went to call for Lucian that I had his phone, but then it occurred to me that I could call Harley. He would come with every man that answered to us—ensuring my freedom.
I checked the phone and it didn’t have a lock on it.
I looked down at the tattoo on my arm.Chained by blood, Chained by love.Me and my brother’s matching tattoo.
Harley needed me to keep his empire running.
So do I call my brother and his men to escape Lucian, or do I stay? I scoffed, why the fuck would I stay? The only reason I could think of was that Harley wouldn’t leave the fight until I was back at his side. Which meant he would die before he let Lucian win.
