Page 9 of Loving Lucian

“Haylee,” he stopped clapping and smirked, “that was one hell of a show.”

She looked vividly wild. “Jye.”

“We need to speak.” He looked at her and then me, our open hatred for each other was still clear. My men knew there was nothing I liked more than a fist fight with Jye. I’d kill him but wasn’t allowed under the laws. But if Haylee thought for one second she was doing a deal with him, she was fucking mistaken. Time to claim back my property, and I was about to do so in front of everyone.

“Considering you just slashed my daughter’s face,” he added and Haylee eyed him down.

Harley reacted the same way I did, instinct to get Haylee as far from Jye as possible. Harley pushed Haylee behind him, and I stepped in front of Harley. This was my wife, my problem. Plus, I’d been itching for a fight with Jye.

“Lucian,” Jye eyed me, “ready to die for that wife of yours?”

Why did people think that reminding me that I would die for Haylee would make me suddenly be like, nah, I’ll pass? People were fucked in the head. “Always,” I replied. “Wipe your right to the law and you and I can settle this.”

“You wipe your right as well?”

“Don’t be stupid, Dad!” Dy was at his side. “Lucian will kill you and then me for pissing off Haylee,” she hissed at him with blood coming through the slice on her face. “Haylee and I will sort this out ourselves.”

I turned to look back and noticed Haylee wasn’t there.

“Where is she?” I barked at Harley.

“Taking care of the threat.” Hayley gave me a direct look. “Hope you don’t like that shirt.” I frowned, not understanding when Jye’s blood sprayed across me, his body dropping to the ground. Immediately, outrage occurred and everyone was reaching for their guns, dropping to the ground, and looking for shelter.

“Sniper?” I looked at Harley. “Is there anything she isn’t good at?”

“Nah, she talented.” He smirked. “I pity her husband cause she doesn’t take being teased well.”

“Where will she go after this?” Chaos had broken out in the hall, and he looked at me like he wasn’t going to tell me till he remembered our mutual agreement. “Harley, cough it up.”

“After this fight, she said she was walking.”

“What!” He just tells me this now! I spun around, the only reason I could keep tabs on her since my offer of her coming home was because she was chained to her brother and kept going back to his empire. If she wasn’t answering to him or caring about their empire, then she would disappear in the wind.

“Sorry, mate.” Harley honestly sounded sorry. “I wanted her to be happy, I had to cut the ties with her.”

“You kicked her out?” Didn’t he fucking realise that Haylee lived for Harley and their empire. It was what kept her sane.

“No. I just asked her to pick between you and me. I told her to go back to you. She said no. I said she couldn’t stay with that tattoo. She said she would fight for us tonight, but then she was done.” Harley opened up to his problem.

“You called her bluff, and she wasn’t bluffing.” I realised just how much damage he had done. What he had done was despicable, threatening her empire.

“Like I said, I don’t know where she’ll be.” Harley ran a hand through his long hair. “And I don’t know if I’ll see her again. This,” he pointed to the craziness going on, “is her getting away while everyone scrambles. She left her,” he looked at Dy, “alive cause she must have thought you care about her. Guess you just got yourself a replacement for a wife.”

I saw Dy’s reaction, but I wanted to find Haylee.

“I’ll find her.” I swore in that moment. I’d fucking find her.

“Sure you will, buddy. But the question is, which Haylee will you find? The soccer mom? The cooperate woman? The house trophy? Cause she just walked from this way of life, and nothing is going to bring her back. Not even I can do it.”

If I was Haylee and I wanted to disappear, where would I go?
