Page 20 of Cage's Fall

Cage scoffed and went to get into with me about it. The man never was afraid of a fight. One of the reasons he was a perfect enforcer.

Catching movement out of the corner of my eye, I see Acorn, and my hands clenched into fists.

“What the fuck is that!” I hiss at her get up.

“What?” She looked at me annoyed. Well, at least she answered me.

“What you’re wearing.” I barked out, and she rolled her eyes in response.

“This would be my school uniform.” She replied dryly.

“Looks like ya heading to a porn shoot little sis, not school.” Jacob backed up my concern.

“Go get changed.” I ordered. And she just crossed her arms.

“No.”

“Was it that small last year?” Jacob muttered, and he had a fucking point. Had she taken scissors to it or something?

Autumn groaned. “For Christ shake, my boobs are bigger! Now can we drop the uniform conversation!”

“No.” I was not letting her leave, wearing that. “Change I’ll write a note about you being out of a uniform.” It was the best I could come up with.

She uncrossed her arms and placed a hand on her hip, “Hawk, reel the protectiveness in. It’s just high school.” And then she picked up her bag. “And I’m running late.” She then walked past us, putting a hand in the air, thinking this conversation was over.

I watched Cage’s eyes follow her, as she walked past. Fuck if that man was staring, there was no way in hell, boys wouldn’t notice.

“Jacob.” I threw him the truck keys. “Take her to school, and the first boy that looks at her threaten him, make a scene. Should be enough to keep the rest of them to stay clear for the day.”

He nodded his head and went after her.

Chapter Twelve

Autumn

Iwanted to kill him.

But I couldn’t.

I did however pull him off the poor middle schooler who wolf whistled at me. Jacob knew how to scare kids! I told him he proved his point which he then walked off with a smirk on his face.

Sitting down in class, I was scrolling through my feed on Facebook, when I heard him. Dylan. That light-hearted chuckle.

I inhaled sharply and kept my eyes on my phone.

Then as I was about to keep scrolling, a notification popped up. Friend request. Cage Hurley. There was no profile picture. Automatic red flags not to accept. But then again. I knew a Cage but thinking he had Facebook was a long shot.

My thumb hovered over the delete button and then again, what if it was Cage? So I went against my better judgement and accepted it.

The bell rang signalling class starting. I put my phone in my pocket and Dylan had already walked in and took a seat in the back, right behind me.

The teacher gave their run of the mill speech about expectations and I wasn’t really paying attention. My phone buzzed in my pocket, so I pulled it out. Seeing as the teacher had his back to us.

Messenger notification. From Cage Hurley.

My eyes widened slightly. Cage had sent me a message? But then again how did I know that this was my Cage. I wanted to roll my eyes at myself. My Cage. The man wasn’t mine.

I opened the message. Sliding my thumb across the screen.
