Kace
Iwas known for being a bastard. Anyone you meet that knew me would say I was a hard bastard, that was often rude—and called people on their shit. As I took a sip from my beer, my eyes were locked on her. Ivory’s ash blonde hair was out and down to her breasts. She had a pair of sunglasses on, and a cigarette burning between her fingers.
I had attempted to talk to her twice. Each time I bailed and got a beer out of the cooler next to her. Prince was using his charm on her and it was getting under my skin and I couldn’t even hear exactly what he was saying from over here.
But I could hear his laugh, and see her grin. Which reminded me how much of an ass I was earlier today. Wasn’t her fault that men wanted a piece of her but fuck would it kill her to cover those breasts of hers? That cleavage was enough to get any man to fall to their knees in front of her. Fuck. I’d be one of those men, if I didn’t know she would flat out reject me. And that top today, seeing her nipples through it- it was a kryptonite for me. Knowing she wasn’t wearing a bra sent delight mixed with fear through my body. Because what I would do to see her topless—there was no bounds.
Though today I had a chance of repairing damages with her, instead—I rejected her. My pigheadedness came. I realized in that moment when I was protecting her—that she wasn’t mine to protect and that was the reason I was pissed off. And why I snapped at her. Stubborn and fucking stupid it was. I recognize that. And now I was dealing with the aftermath, which was her pretending I didn’t exist. As much as I stared at her, she hadn’t glanced in my direction since she walked through the door.
Fuck this. Fuck Prince bedding her tonight. I threw my drink back and this time I was going to make conversation with her. Fuck she had a hold on me, basically had me by the balls. As I approach her, my heart is drumming to a beat that makes me feel sick.
Prince and her conversation gets clearer as I approach and then I notice how her eyes goes from Prince to me. I see hesitation in those blue orbs which makes me think that while she was having a conversation with Prince, her mind was elsewhere. Maybe she had noticed me staring at her, watching her ass every time she bend over to pick up a beer from the cooler.
“Kace, mate, need a refill?” Prince said, and I nodded my head. Putting the empty in the bin. Knowing that I would be crashing here tonight because no way could I ride the bike. I had already had six, and I wasn’t planning on stopping yet.
“Shit the coolers out, I’ll go get some from the fridge.” Prince said closing the cooler lid and heading inside. That worked out perfectly for me. Because I could have a word with Ivory. My eyes went off Prince’s back and on to the goddess known as Ivory Henderson.
“How’s ya night?” I asked the most stupid and original question. I watch her inhale on her cigarette and what I would do for her lip to be wrapped around me. Fuck. What was with this woman!
My pride was about to get in the way again, I felt it coming. I was about to walk off, when I heard my name and I cringed. Physically cringe.
“Kace baby, didn’t know you’d be here.” Vee’s voice was soft and not sweet. She was a club girl a lot of men had been there, including me. I glanced to my side seeing her. Fuck how was I going to get away from her?
“Who is this?” Vee looked at Ivory and frowned. “I haven’t seen you around the club.”
I went to open my mouth when Ivory placed a hand on my arm. Making me freeze.
“I’m Ivory, Kace’s girl.” She said with such determination that fuck I believed her. Ivory leaned in. “So fuck off.” She says with a smile on her face, but it was the type of smile that started a bitch fight. Vee is speechless, she looks at me for help, but I don’t give any and she backs away from us.
I turned to say thank you to Ivory.
“We’re even.” She states, and then drinks the rest of her beer putting the empty in the trash.
I could be stubborn. Could walk off. Could do a lot of other dick moves, instead I found myself saying a word I had never really said, or meant.
“I’m sorry Ivory.” I said the s word and didn’t die of embarrassment. However I had said it so soft, I wasn’t sure if she had heard it. I ran a hand through my hair, and nervously grinned at her. “For this morning, I was a dick.”
She shrugged, and must have heard me say the s word. “You only stated the truth.”
“Still had no right to be so damn rude.”
“Kace.” She blew out. “It’s fine.” Her eyes dropped to the ground. “You weren’t the only one to notice, if I remember correctly.”
That pissed me off the thought of her being eye candy to those men this morning. Prince was back with beers, handing one to Ivory and me.
“So what did I miss?” Prince asked, and then looked between us. “You two actually ever have a conversation before, being competitors.”
“Yeah,” Ivory was quick to answer. “Kace is a good guy.”
Prince gives me a look, like wondering what the hell had she seen of me, that he hadn’t.
“You sure we talking about the same Kace?” Prince said, not dropping the subject.
Ivory smiled and it was knee buckling. I wanted to hear her response when her phone rang and I saw Gabe’s name across her screen. She frowned but answered it, putting her beer down and walking away from the noise.
Prince turned to me. “Thought you couldn’t stand the perfect pretty Henderson’s?” He had a grin from ear to ear as he looked at me for answers.
