Then I hear the words that I don’t want to hear.I’ll be there soon.My eyes are locked on Kace, as he hangs up.

“I have to go.” He looks as pleased about it as I am that he is leaving. “Don’t wanna but your brothers have made a mess at the club and I have to do damage control.” He runs a hand down my side, and kissed my forehead.

I pout. But don’t say anything because it is sort of my fault.

“Guess I’ll see you when I see you.” I say, not sure what else to say.

“I’ll be back tonight.” He looks me in the eyes. “I promise.”

I nod my head. “Okay,”

He kisses me again before leaving. And when he leaves. I felt like he wasn’t telling me something and that annoyed me—but then again I was only hours into this relationship. If I started doubting him now, that wasn’t great. So I shook my head of those thoughts. Kace always kept his word. He’d be back tonight.

He doesn’t come back.I barely sleep all night, rolling on my sides, waiting. I finally fall asleep only to wake up that morning, with him not here. I didn’t have one missed call from him, or one message. And the concern I feel is all consuming.

I eat cereal, worried. I get dressed, worried. And I put off leaving, until I have to.

In the end I can’t put it off any longer and I leave for the track. To meet Gabe. The whole time, I’m nervous for some reason. My stomach rolling with guilt, nerves and concern. I for some reason feel like it is my fault that Kace isn’t home.

I pulled into the garage. Spotting Gabe walking towards me car with a grin on his face.

“Don’t you think it’s a great day sis?” he grins at me.

No. I just nodded my head. The sun was out if that was what he was getting at.

“Guess what happened last night.”

“You got laid, cause you are in a good mood.” I say off handed and walked towards the shed, past him.

“Better than that. The bikers got raided. From what I heard nearly most of them are heading to prison.”

I full on stop. “What?”

Gabe continued to grin. “Yep. The bikers got raided. Wasn’t even our doing. They had a rat for the feds.”

I shake my head. This can’t be happening. “How do you know all this?”

“Manson, chief of police, you know Dad’s best mate. He told Dad, dad called me.” He shrugged. “Guess this means Kace is out of the race this weekend. Can’t be in two places at once. The gods are looking down on us Ivy. For our main competition to go to prison.”

I’m speechless. I can’t form a word. Gabe nudges for me to keep walking but I can’t.

Kace

Fucking police. Vein of my existence. I used Ivory’s spare key, opening her door. It was night by the time I got here. Letting the door swing up, I balanced food in the other hand. Had a feeling I needed something to sweet talker for standing her up last night.

Then my eyes landed on Ivory. On the couch, and I drop the food on the coffee table.

“Ivory what the fuck is wrong?” I go to her, seeing her with tears down her cheeks, barely breathing. She was hyperventilating as I cupped her tear stained face. She was looking at me like I wasn’t really here. “Ivory, what happened!”

She was a crying mess, I had never seen any woman this upset and she grips my vest, pulling me to her. Locking her arms around my neck, as I kneeled in front of her.

“Darling, what the hell has you this worked up.” I run my hand down her back, wondering who had caused this mess. My expression sharped. Had Gabe said something? Had Ivory told him about her and I, that would make sense.

She was hiccupping not being able to string words together. I needed to calm her down.
