She walked towards us.

“Obviously just now Taylor.” I muttered, running a hand through my hair.

“Nah bud, I saw her car here earlier.” Taylor frowned then smirked. “Guess it is a good thing you don’t pay her by the hour.”

My eyes went to Ivory, narrowing on to her. “Yeah, well I’ll see ya at the race this weekend.” I said to Taylor and then watched my sister hightail it away from me. “Now I need a word with my sister about risks.”

“Fair call from you mate, how many are you taking racing a new cube.” He shook his head with a carefree grin while I walked off heading for my sister who was talking to the pit crew.

“Want to explain that?” I said to her and she glanced up, keeping her cool eyes on me.

“Explain what?”

“What time you get here? Or more importantly which shed did you come to first?” I asked the question but I didn’t want the fucking answer. To be honest with myself I wanted her to flat out lie to me. But I also knew she wouldn’t do that because she respected me too much—or at least I hoped we still had that relationship.

One of respect and loyalty. A part of me wanted to believe I wasn’t that brother, the over protective dominant one. Surely I could be a level headed about her dating but why the fuck was she attracted to that asshole!

“I have no idea what you are talking about.” She said keeping her eyes locked with mine and my stomach tightened—she was lying to me and I wasn’t sure what hurt more. That she was lying or that there was a ninety percent chance she had been with Kace.

Chapter 5 Part 2

IVORY

“Yeah like I said Elle,I’m not interested.” I said into the phone, and was holding it between my shoulder and ear, as I used both hands fixing the clamp on the motor. It was late. I was the only one left, after all you can’t expect your pit crew to do all nighters, like me.

My sister had called about a charity event and I wasn’t even mildly interested. I had nights here working on the car, perfecting it—and I didn’t have time for ‘charity events’. Which lets be honest, were all about Elle setting me up with whatever bachelor she had found. My sister was a matchmaker and while she didn’t want to settle down—she expect me to because my ‘hobbies’ aka NASCAR wasn’t healthy.

Apparently a man would take my mind off my career that I was building.

“Come on Ivory, just ditch the grease for one night?” She snapped impatient at me. I sighed, turning around needing another spanner. Catching sight of something moving out of the corner of my eye, squeal and drop my phone. It crashing on the concrete.

My eyes run over Kace and I quickly pick my phone up. “Elle I have to go and for the record the answer is no.” And then I hung up. My screen was slightly shattered in the corner from the drop. I groaned. I had just had this screen replaced.

I looked at Kace, noticing a small smirk on his face.

“Can I help you with something?” I snapped at him, seeing as he found my clumsiness as amusing.

He crossed his arms and his eyes stayed on me. Why did it feel like he was judging me? God. Why was I being paranoid.

He took the cigarette from his mouth, “You are always the first to get here and last to leave.” He noted a true fact.

“So,” I paused tilting my head. “You’ve been watching me?”

I stilled as he walked towards me. And I hoped to god that Gabe wasn’t monitoring the cameras in the garage right now. Having Kace in here would make him flip.

“You left me the other night, not giving a reason.” He says and ignored the question I ask.

“Like I said, I had an early morning that day.”

“And tomorrow, do you have an early morning?”

I sighed. This was honestly not okay, I knew that. I was dancing with fire. But I knew I would only get burnt if I couldn’t master how to manipulate the flame. Finally I realized I couldn’t prolong it any longer.

“Kace I know you want to hurt my brother. But using me, seriously?” I scoffed and looked up at him in the eyes. “You can’t expect me to let you, hurt me, so you can hurt him.”

He smirked. “Your acting’ like I’m gonna use and abuse ya.”

“Is that not your plan? Fuck me, leave the next morning. Maybe get a victory picture to shove it in my brother’s face?” Yeah I had gone through the scenarios. I knew how this would end and I wasn’t prepared for it to unfold because my brother’s head needed to be in the race, not on mind games with Kace. “So you should go Kace.”
