I kissed his cheek and climbed off him. I swear I saw his jaw clench—almost as if he was trying to keep control over himself and stopping himself from keeping me on his lap.

I sort of wished his control had snapped.

I stood up and my phone, lightening up on the coffee table, gave me an excuse to step further away from him.

I read the message. Ty was in town last minute. Wanted to know if he could book me. I hadn’t seen him since he left me in that hotel room. The same night Kobra walked back into my life.

“You okay?”

Kobra speaking caused me to look up.

“Just a client wanting to know if he can book me for tonight,” I said calmly and smiled. “Thanks for hanging out with me tonight.”

His pissed off expression took me by surprise.

“Ya telling him ya done, right?” Kobra growled at me. “You are telling him, you don’t fucking work anymore, right?”

“Kobra, it’s how I pay my bills.”

“Don’t give me that shit, Opal. Ya fucking smart—”

“Exactly I am smart. I make more in one night then most women make in a month.” I snapped over him. “Don’t ruin a good night, Kobra. Please.” I didn’t want our night to end on an argument. “Sex is just a need. So don’t blow it into something that isn’t a big deal.”

“A need?” Kobra took a step towards me. “Men like that,” he pointed at my phone. “Don’t see it as that. They see it as a way to buy a woman and do what they please.”

“Well, technically. They aren’t in the wrong.”

My words were like throwing gasoline on a fire.

His sharp eyes locked on mine and he is towering over me. “If you care about your clients at all. You won’t be seeing them again. Cause I tell you right now, the next man need you fulfil will be needing a hospital.” It wasn’t what he said that scared me, it was the fact it was no empty threat. “You tell them ya done. You hear me?”

“And what about my needs?” I snapped at him.

His hand went to my chin, and he titled my head back, I looked up at him. “The only man fulfilling your need will be me.” My stomach tightened. “You want to be fucked, baby girl—then it will be me doing it. Understand?”

I shoved his hand off me. “I’m not yours.”

“Yeah, you are.” He said staring deep into my eyes. “No more games, Opal. And if you want a man hurt, all you need to do is book a meeting with them. I’ll break their legs and maybe take one of their balls—if they touch you. Hear me?”

I just glared at him.

“You hear me?” he growled.

“Yes.” I bite back. “I hear you Kobra Kincaid.” I snarled back. “You think you can control my life, because you suddenly want me back. You’re wrong. I said I’d give you a friendship. I never agreed to being a submissive to you.”

I went to walk away from him, and he grabbed my arm. Pulling me back into his grips. My back was to his chest and my breathing was sharp. His arm wrapped around my body, and his other hand went to my cheek. Turning my head to the side.

My breathing was sharp and shallow.

“I ain’t letting you go again,” his words swirled around in my ear. I just didn’t realize in that moment how much he meant those words.

I felt the nerves swallow me whole. Can I do this? Was I really going to stand in front of him and demand sex? It had been a solid few weeks since he laid down the law of me not working. I went from having sex numerous times a week, no nothing. I had needs. Kobra said he would fulfil those needs. But I still can’t believe I was going to take him up on it.

I hadn’t stood foot in a club in years. Now here I was, walking into the Satan Bastards—like half a decade hadn’t passed.

The roar of laughter, pool balls crashing and the strong smell which was a mixture of cigars and spilt liquor hit me.

I slowly scanned the room. Kobra didn’t know I was coming here tonight. After he fucked me sensibly the other night. We hadn’t spoken. He wanted me all in. Which meant I couldn’t pretend like this side of him didn’t exist.
