“I think that to be a lie.”
I looked back at him to see him run his hand over his chin.
“My son has been on a mission to find you.”
“Viper is just like you. Two sides.”
His expression dropped. As if I had confirmed his worst nightmare. “I’ll show you the guest bedroom. I need to head back to the hospital.”
“It’s not going to end well.”
“What?”
“Your mission to bring down Kaylee.”
“I’m not. I’m bringing down your father.”
I looked at him. “And you said you knew Kaylee well.”
With that statement, I didn’t say another word. Because Reaper needed to piece the puzzle together. Dad was a criminal, but he was a lot smarter than to have an open running meth business to his name.
I spent most of my life living with boundaries around feelings.
I sat in the hospital waiting room. Not because I gave a shit about the man that stole my sister's heart and betrayed our family. But for my sister. Who I couldn’t even look at because she was breaking and I couldn’t help her.
I hadn’t wanted their wedding to happen, but I didn’t want it to end like this.
Reaper came back to the hospital, and I was taking that as my opportunity to leave the girls. So I got up.
Only for him to look at Hannah and I could see he felt the confliction I felt about the whole fucking mess.
“Viper a word.” He said before he went to the girls. Mum looked up but then Hannah began to shake in tears again. So her attention was pulled away from what I was sure would be a showdown with me and the famous reaper.
We stepped out into the ward passage.
“Fucking stay away from her.”
I frowned. “What?”
“Aurora. Ya really think I didn’t know what you were doing tracking her down.”
I glared at him. “I was making sure she was safe.”
“Fucking don’t bullshit me, boy. She has feelings for an old flame, you’ll end up hurt.”
“You think Demon and her have a future,” I scoffed. Shook my head. “Doesn’t matter, anyway. I fucked her and I’m done.” I stared at him. “She is nothing to me.”
His cold expression broke with sorrow. “Ya turning cold son.”
What did he expect? I remained silent. Just staring back at him. As an expression of guilt and anger consumed his face.
“She was fucking right. Two sides,” he muttered before shoving me aside and walking into the waiting room.
Had no idea what he meant by that. Didn’t give a fuck either. Aurora was hooked on Demon.
I saw it in her eyes when they fought in the lot.
For some fucking sick and twisted reason that got under my skin. But she was nothing to me. As Demon said. She deserved better than a cut that wore a man. Like us.
