“Aurora?”
I turned around and my stomach twisted. Why did I feel like I was in trouble? Abby was staring directly at me, with a cigarette between her fingers.
I felt physically sick as I walked towards her.
“Abby, I’m sorry for causing a fight in your bar. I started it.” I didn’t want to get those girls in trouble.
“No you didn’t,” She gestured her head to the side of her. “We haven’t really met. I’m sorry about that. Shit sort of all fell apart at once.”
“It doesn’t matter. I’m not anyone to meet, anyway.”
“Not true.”
I looked up, her eyes on me.
“You saved my husband, and you just stood up for my son's honour. Honestly, I was moments away from pulling their right to be associated with the club.” She turned and butted her cigarette out. “And I think May would have preferred that over the beat down.” This time a full grin was on her face. “Any woman that protects my boys is a woman I think highly of.”
I frowned. “Are you okay Abby?”
She blinked. “Why wouldn’t I be? Is it such a shock for me to be nice and not a trigger-happy woman?”
“Not that, it’s.” I moved closer, my eyebrows knitted together. “You’re stressed. I can feel it.”
“Reaper said you were an Empath.” Abby shook her head. “Club life is stressful especially when I’m married to one man that likes to live up to his name and my son who is crafting his.”
“Viper’s not crafted. He’s split.”
She looked at me for an explanation.
“Do you know how this town got the name Snake Valley?”
She just stared at me.
“After the snake tricked Eve. The snake got the honour of having a valley. Where more souls will be tricked and more souls will be reaped. But mainly for the casted angels like him, Lucifer. To give them a home. For every soul, will find peace here.”
She just stared at me. “That’s on the welcome sign to our town.”
“I know.”
“Satan’s Sons was formed here.” She looked back at me. “Now the name makes more sense.”
“Four generations of bikers. I’m sure the reason behind the naming got blurred.”
I sat here not feeling awkward even though I was sitting beside a woman even most men feared.
“I like you Aurora. But I have bad news for you,” She brought her whiskey to her lips and threw it back. “Tyson is a lot like his father. He won’t love easily.”
“That’s ok. I can love enough for both of us.”
“Until he hurts you, repeatedly. Pushes you away. Breaks you to a crumbling point. What then Aurora, what do you do when he does that? When he says he doesn’t love? Pushes you away? Will you still have enough love for both of you?”
She had a good question. But right now, I don't have an answer for her. Because if I said what I really thought. She would question my sanity. Fuck it, if she wanted to question it. I turned fully to face her.
“Lucifer loved Lilith, and if the devil can love. After every deed he does, and souls he reaps. I believe anyone can.”
Abby just stared at me. “Are you saying you love my son as much as Lilith loved Lucifer?” she sighed. “I’m sorry.”
“For?”
