“Um, yeah. It was a promise ring.”
“Promise of marriage?”
“No. Um. After maybe the fifth or sixth blonde that I caught him with, he gave me this ring, which was his promise he would be faithful.” I looked at the ring and then decided it didn’t matter to me anymore.
I took my hand out of Jax’s and moved to the first box, dropping it in. “We should really get a move on. Jack will be here soon. And I have shit load of stuff I have to get done before that.”
Jax’s eyes were still on me, as if he was waiting for me to snap or something.
“What?” I crossed my arms. I knew by his stare that he had a question. “Come on, get it off your chest.”
“How are you going to tell Jack about Will and Tae?”
That was what he was worried about? “I’ll handle it. Not your problem.” My hand landed on the doorknob. “You ready to face the day?”
It was the middle of the afternoon and I knew my brothers would be up. Waiting. I had calls to make. Housework to do. And on top of that, I was started to get nervous about Jack meeting Jax. I knew one day it would happen but it was happening today.
Jax was beside me. “So, I guess as soon as that door opens, I have to keep my hands to myself?” His hand was on my lower back, and he kissed my cheek. “Do you want me to stay completely away from you? Like what is acceptable and what isn’t? I’m guessing last night was a one-time deal if Jack comes in your room at night?”
I ran my hand up his arm. “I don’t know about the sleeping arrangements yet. Chelsea is moving in here until she finds something.”
My house was going to be a mad house.
“So, you need a bedroom?” He guessed right.
“All the boys are taking up my guest rooms. Chelsea usually stays in the room you are in, because it is across from Jack’s. And Jack often will go sleep with Chelsea. So, I was thinking, if it is okay with you…”
“I can sleep on the couch.”
I smiled. “No, Jax, I was thinking you can just stay in here with me?” Now I had to add the detail that would crush any plans he was making. “But we can’t, you know, do what we did this morning.”
“I said I’d give you time. I’m not rushing you.”
“It’s not that. It’s…” How did I explain this? “Okay, don’t freak.”
“Usually when you say that, that is exactly what I do.” He frowned slightly at me and nodded for me to continue.
“Well, Jack is going to want to be with you. And if you are in here with me, I’m guessing our son will be in between us. So, do you understand on why we have to be… you know…”
“We have to be decent.” He got where I was coming from.
“Yeah. I know it isn’t exactly what you want. I’m guessing just being released from prison you want sex and a lot of it.” I felt bad I couldn’t give it to him. “So, I have an option for you.” I kept my hand on the doorknob.
He arched his eyebrow and looked at me, like he was already not impressed with what I was going to say.
“You are transferring clubs, right?” I knew he had needs. Needs I couldn’t fulfil right now.
“Yeah, but I haven’t stepped in yet.” He took his hand off me. “Do you want me to move to the club?”
“No.” I shook my head, and then hesitated “But I understand if you want to.”
He scoffed.
“Jax, I’m not insulting you or anything or kicking you out. I’m just saying you have needs and I can’t, you know, fulfil them.” I was being honest but his eyes just got sharper on me. “Come on, Jax. Six years with no sex. You need a woman. And what I’m offering you isn’t really something to jump for.”
He was now glaring at me.
I groaned, I didn’t want him to take it that way. “Look, all I’m saying is go get it out of your system. And then come back and we can give us a shot. So, it’s a win-win, right? If you don’t want to move into the club, then just go and visit. I don’t know how bikers sex life works. All I’m saying is you can…” And the look he was giving me made me stop talking.
