“Cole, we agreed not to yell it at her!” Adam snapped at Cole’s poorly delivered words.

I started placing slices of pies in front of them.

Tyler groaned. “Please, Amber, let us move in? You have food and room for the bikes, and that garage out back you don’t use would be perfect for me.”

“But we aren’t pressuring you.” Troy was quick to cut Tyler off. “We understand you are used to just you and Jack.”

I looked Troy in the eyes. “Troy, the fact Chelsea is moving in tonight has nothing to do with you wanting to move in, right?”

“I didn’t even know.” He crossed his arms, lying.

“We’ll babysit Jack. Think of all the bonuses of having us here.” Tyler was back to it. He wasn’t giving up on the subject. “We won’t bring drugs into the house. We will smoke outside and we will pay you rent.”

“I don’t need money.” I looked at them and smiled. “Jack, what do you think of your uncles moving in?” I looked at Jack, who was trying to stuff his mouth with as much pie as possible.

He swallowed a mouthful of pie. “But they already live here!”

I looked at them, my smile getting bigger. “Yeah, I thought the same.” Their expressions relaxed and Tyler was rolling his eyes, now realizing his show was unneeded. “So, since when did you all start getting mail?” I kept grinning.

“Shut up, Amber,” Adam sniped at me. Because it had been his excuse, and it was bad.

“Hey, this pie is good,” Troy said after tasting my pie.

“Like really good.” Cole frowned and looked at me. “When did you learn to make pie?”

“One of my hidden talents.”

“You and your talents, Amber.” Jax had a smirk on his face, his eyes locked with mine and I knew exactly what he was referring to. I stepped out from between Jack and Jax and headed for the kitchen “Amber?”

I turned around. “Yeah?”

“You not eating?” He turned around fully to see my reaction. I knew what he was getting at.

“Dad, Mom can’t have dessert, it makes her sick,” Jack informed Jax and then went back to eating his pie.

I nodded and turned back around, walking into the kitchen with the knife. Now what else did had to get done before Jack had his shower? He really should eat something more than just pie. It wasn’t really healthy.

“Jack, what do you want for dinner?” I said over my shoulder, knowing very well he would be up for dinner as well as pie. “And it can’t be more pie.”

Jax had snuck up on me. My heart was jumping from the surprise of his arms wrapping around me. Jack was busy talking to my brothers and was listing all the type of pies I did make.

So, our son’s attention wasn’t on us right now. Which I was thankful for, because Jax was giving me a look that told me I was in trouble.

“What?” I asked, and nervously took my eyes off him and turned to the sink. I flicked on the tap and started cleaning the knife, while I felt Jax standing behind me, his hands on my hips.

“You haven’t eaten.” He took his hand off my hip and took the knife from me, dropping it in the sink and turning the tap off.

I knew what he was wanting. So, I slowly turned around, now between him and the kitchen island.

“Jax, I’m fine,” I said softly and looked up at him. “It’s been a long day.”

He glanced at Jack and then his eyes were back on me. “Can I talk to you for a minute?” There were nerves in his voice. He then decided he wouldn’t wait for an answer and took my hand, and I wasn’t sure why he couldn’t speak to me in the kitchen.

He slid open my study door and pulled me in.

“Is everything all right?” I asked, watching him close the door after us.

Then his hands were on my hips, and like he had all control over me, he lifted me up, and his lips were on mine, frantic.
