I was confused at first, not understanding his lack of control. He placed me down on my desk, his hands then running down my arms and then once he had my hands, he guided them around his neck, like he needed me touching him.
I was meeting his speed now, and my eyes slowly closed as I got lost on his hands on my body and the taste of him. I swear nothing and no one tasted as delicious as him. My nails dug into his skin, and my need to physically be with him sky rocketed through my body.
He had no idea what happened to me when he kissed me like this.
I started to aggressively kiss him because when it came to him, I was an addict, and right now, I was pissed off with him, for starting something we wouldn’t be finishing.
Like always, he was in control, so when he slowed the kiss, I had to follow. Even though the last thing my body wanted now was slow.
His lips left mine completely. And I didn’t want it to be over. He leaned his forehead against mine, and his hands went to mine.
I kept my eyes closed. “You okay?” My voice was soft, low. My exhaustion that I had been trying to hide all day came out.
“You are amazing.” His words were low and he kissed my cheek.
I kept my eyes shut, enjoying the feel of my hands in his, and having him so close.
“You dealt with a lot of money today.” His words caused me to open my eyes.
“It’s just numbers.” My job wasn’t as complicated as one would think.
“You lost millions and made billions, and you didn’t care.” Jax smiled at me. “Your attention was on pies. You cared more about making our son a pie than the money you were losing and making.”
There was a soft smile on his face and he was looking at me like I was the most amazing person. And he couldn’t be happier with me.
“Admit it, you thought I had lost my mind.” I smiled and took my hand from his and placed it on his cheek. “I’m sorry about Jack knowing about, you know, well… everything.” I felt so bad for letting Jack find out about Jax. “I swear, I had no idea he even had that ring or what it stood for.”
“Amber, it’s fine.” His hand went to mine, which was on his cheek.
“He made you give it to him. You know you are going to have to learn to say no to him.”
He shook his head. “I will give him anything he wants. The ring was just the beginning.”
“Jax, he will walk all over you. Jack knows how to get his way the best of times.”
Jax ignored me and started to kiss my jaw. My hand went into his hair.
“We can’t be disappearing all the time either.” I pulled back from him, making sure he saw how serious I was. “Jack needs to be getting to know you. Not getting used to the idea of us being together.”
“I know I failed by dragging you in here tonight but I was so fucking proud of you for everything you’ve done today. And the fact your attention all day has been on pies.” He kissed my lips quickly. “And here I was thinking you weren’t handling what happened last night, by being so disconnected from everyone all day, all your focus on pies.”
The look in his eyes pulled on my heart. I saw his love for me.
I smiled at him. I couldn’t stop the smile. “Sorry, I should have explained myself.” I slowly started to yawn. “One day, you will realize that not everything I do is a sign of insanity.”
His arms wrapped around me, lifting me off the desk and he slowly let my body slide down him, my feet heading the carpet.
“You need to eat and sleep.” Jax’s voice wasn’t soft and gentle now. It was direct. In control, telling me what to do.
“I can’t eat tonight.”
“Amber.”
“No, please. I promise tomorrow I’ll make an effort. It just when I’ve had a day as stressful as this, I just can’t stomach food.” I was telling the truth. After today’s events and stress, I wouldn’t be able to keep anything down. “I’m exhausted and I can’t handle the thought of being up all night vomiting.”
His eyes were locked with mine; he saw I was telling the truth. “Tomorrow I’m making appointments for you,” he said firmly. “And I’ll be taking you to these appointments. So, don’t even think you can pull the shit you did with Will on me.”
“I shouldn’t have told you my secret.” I sighed, I wasn’t serious but then I saw his expression. “I’m joking, Jax. You know I couldn’t lie to you about something like that.”
