I rolled my eyes. Well, I could have fun with this. I could have him run up the bill and then come time to pay, his card was going to be declined. I smirked just a little. He wasn’t buying me a Rolls Royce. I was buying one.
So, I was going to let him run wild and then enjoy his reaction when he couldn’t pay. Yep. How uncomfortable that would be for him.
Chapter 17
Jax
She did it on fucking purpose. I was positive of it. Yep. I saw her reaction. I swear I had never seen her so happy. All because she was pissing me off.
I was also fucking positive her card had never been used as much as it was today. As soon as she paid for that car. I clenched the bags tighter. Oh, that fucking car. I should have known she was too quiet when I was picking the model. She didn’t even argue at me when the salesman gave us the bill. It was close to a mil, and I was happy it was that expensive.
Until I couldn’t fucking pay. Then she handed that card over and she didn’t stop passing it around. I refused to go into those designer stores.
But I would admit I didn’t buckle at the look. The look hadn’t got me in those fucking ridiculous designer stores. No, the look didn’t do it but it fucking helped. She whispered in my ear, that if I did what she said, she would repay me.
My mind went wild with all the ideas and images of her repaying me.
Yep. As soon as she said that, I buckled and before I knew it she was paying over two hundred for a fucking t-shit!
And the clothes didn’t stop coming. She had people following her every direction. I was being measured, fucking jabbed at with needles.
She had all the staff running around like idiots. Every store she handed that card of hers over, and then the sales assistants went insane.
I tried to get to a bank but oh no, the goddess wouldn’t go to a bank. Because that would ruin her fucking fun.
I closed the trunk of the new Rolls Royce. I was literally grinding my teeth as I dumped the last lot of shopping bags in the foyer. She had managed to fill the back seat to the point you couldn’t open the door without something falling out. And she put that extra trunk space to work.
I walked up the hallway. Surprisingly her brothers, my so-called men, were ‘too busy’ to help. I walked into the open living room. The boys were camped out on the couch, watching what looked like the last quarter of a football game.
“Where’s Amber?” I asked them. I would admit my tone wasn’t friendly. They were all focused on the game. I kicked the back of the couch, causing Adam’s and Tyler to jump and their attention went to me. “Where is Amber?”
“Outside.” Adam answered, not seeming one bit fazed by my snappy attitude. Tyler hadn’t even bothered to answer; his attention was straight back on the TV.
Fuck. I don’t know how many hours I had wasted watching games. I walked to the back door. My hand landing on the doorknob. Then I looked through the glass. And my throat tightened.
I watched her laugh as she ran in between trees, with Jack running after her. And then she tripped. I smiled. She hadn’t done that on purpose. I knew by the expression that captured her face.
Just as she was getting up, Jack gave her push in the back, while running past and it must have been firm because it forced her back down.
I opened the back door in time to hear her yelling how much of a brat he was and she was getting him back.
I leaned against the house, on the back deck, watching her trying to get him. Jack was actually quick on his feet and was easily dodging her while using his fort as an advantage.
I lit up the cigarette I had been needing since this morning. I exhaled a mouthful of smoke, and watched Amber fail miserably trying to get our son back. Was she sucking on purpose?
She had always been fucking clumsy. Clearly that hadn’t changed. She was getting more dirt on her than anything else by trying to get to him. She didn’t seem to care that her jeans and white top were covered in mud.
She was too busy trying to get Jack back. And she really was trying, too. I was on my third cigarette when she finally caught him. She was quick to take off as soon as she made her strike. Laughing evilly.
She and Jack clearly didn’t go easy on each other.
Jack and Amber started to head for the house and I suddenly realized that it might be creepy that I had been just standing here watching them.
Fuck. I shouldn’t have stayed out here so long. But as soon as I saw them, I couldn’t pull my eyes off them.
Jack was laughing, and ran ahead of Amber. God, that boy was full of energy. “Dad, can we have pizza for dinner?” Jack came to a stop in front of me, not even puffing and he had been running around with Amber for at least few hours. “Mom said you’re in charge.”
I wanted to scoff at that. Amber was most likely being sarcastic when she said that to Jack. Maybe to piss me off more or rub the fact in how I would do anything she said. I was positive she would have a smirk on her face.
