“Ha!” Cole looked at me sarcastic. “I never heard the ABC song so many fucking times! Over and over!”

“I actually was impressed when he started doing it backward.” Adam appeared. “Where is my garlic bread?”

“I’m so sorry, guys.” I knew very well how that ABC song would get stuck in your head after he sung it once.

The boys all shared a grin with each other after I said that, causing me to frown.

“Okay, what happened?” I picked up on their amused smiles. I knew for a fact Jack being hyped up on soda didn’t have you smiling, especially after the ABC song.

“Let’s just say, he didn’t give us hell.” Cole opened the fridge, pulling out and beer and looking at me with a grin. “He turned on the cops.”

“Oh, he didn’t.” My expression wiped. “Please tell me you didn’t let him out of his car seat?”

“Oh, we did.” Tyler grinned. “Best thing we fucking did.”

“I liked the part where he started throwing pizza at them.” Adam laughed and opened his garlic bread.

“I liked it when he started repeating everything they said back to them.” Troy took a bite of his pizza, sounding rather pleased.

“Trust me, Amber, the fact you are his mother was clear tonight.” Cole looked at me rather smugly.

“He is going to start his record earlier than us,” Troy said after swallowing a mouthful of pizza. “I thought I started young at nine. But if he keeps it up, he will have a record before that.”

“I’m surprised they didn’t fucking take him to child services.” I sighed. God, Jack plus soda, usually always meant a nightmare. But if he was near a police officer, and he hated them. More than he hated Lucas licking his toys, which said a fucking lot.

“Probably would have.” Adam shrugged and then looked at Troy. “But like always, Troy knows who to threaten.”

My eyes bounced to Troy. “Shit, Troy, I know how much you hate making deals with the cops.” God, I shouldn’t have sent them out. I didn’t even factor in what could happen if Jack got involved.

“Didn’t make a deal.” Troy shrugged. His eyes went to Jax. “They are now aware you’re in town.”

God, this was all my fault! All I wanted was a few hours with Jax. But look at the shit I’d stirred up. I realized just how much trouble I had caused.

Jack could have gotten arrested.

Jax was now on the police radar.

Before I could say anything, Jax was wrapping his arms around me, pulling me back to his chest. As if he knew I was panicking and realizing how much I fucked up tonight. I was going to own up to it. This was all my fault.

“Good,” Jax said simply, not seeming upset that the police knew what town he was in. “They would have known when I went there anyway.”

“Why would you go to a police station?” I turned in Jax’s arms. “Are you crazy?”

“Sweetheart, they have to be reminded who is in charge.” He gave me a smile. “All good. Stop looking so panicked.”

I was panicked. I didn’t want the police going on the hunt for him. I opened my mouth to own up to this mess.

“Is that the new merchandise?” Cole’s question caused me to turn around.

“Um, yeah.” I looked down at one of Jax’s new shirts I had stolen. I had to admit the new graphic designer had done a fucking good job.

“Last time I checked, it was a man’s shirt,” Cole made a point to say to me.

I cracked a grin. “Maybe I am one.” I loved talking shit to Cole.

He scoffed, shaking his head. “I’m pretty sure I have a nephew to prove you aren’t.” He pulled out something from a plastic bag.

Then I realized what it was. “Oh, my god, I love you.” I was quick to walk to him.
