“No. I brought two muffins. One for you and one for me.”

“They were both mine.”

Chelsea rolled her eyes and looked at me. “Your son claims everything that is mine.” She smiled and pointed my coffee cup. “How many of those have you had today?”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “Today is not a day we monitor my caffeine intake.”

Chelsea glanced at Troy, and I knew what she was doing. “Did you know your sister’s temper goes up with the amount of caffeine she has?”

Chelsea and that theory. One she had proved to be correct one day because she experimented on me!

“No, I didn’t.” Troy suppressed a smile.

“We did an experiment,” Jack informed Troy.

“Yes, and now you are all banned from getting me drinks.” A month without caffeine. I still don’t know how my body did it. But between Chelsea and Will, they managed it.

“See, her temper is going up.” Chelsea laughed.

“It is not! I just don’t like you and Will deciding to experiment on me!”

“She gets twitches as well,” Chelsea added. “Like aggression twitches. She nearly killed the man who got her mail redirected to the third floor.”

“One time.” I rolled my eyes.

Jack pointed a finger at me. “What about the man who broke my photo!”

“He was testing the fire alarm, standing on my desk. He deserved my rant!” He was lucky that photo frame missed his head. Stupid idiot man. Who just stands on someone’s desk? Which is covered in work!

Chelsea and Troy shared a smile, like I had just confirmed Chelsea’s theory.

“And those are just two stories.” Chelsea grinned at Troy. “Is your temper anything like your sister’s?”

I scoffed. Troy not in control of his temper? Yeah, as if that day would ever happen.

“No.”

“So, you don’t throw things at people?” Chelsea asked and gave me a pointed look. “Like your sister?”

“No.” Troy smiled at Chelsea. “You know her really well, don’t you?”

Chelsea nodded. She did know me. Too well. She knew all my habits. She knew my son as good as I did. She also knew all about my history. Hell, she even knew about Tae.

“Tae is coming in town for Jack’s birthday. Do you want to come to our dinner?” I asked Chelsea, who was still looking at Troy.

Her eyes went from him to me. “Tae is going to be in town?”

“Yeah, for Jack’s birthday.”

“I don’t know after last time.” Chelsea chewed her bottom lip and I knew what was holding her back. But Tae was a good man. A criminal but he would never hurt her. They’d had a one-night stand, when she and Mason were on a break.

Tae had made an effort with her ever since.

Troy was glaring at me. Why?

I shrugged it off when the doorbell rang.

Chelsea went into panic mood immediately. Her eyes widened as she looked at me.
