“Why are we insane?” Adam walked in. “Where’s breakfast?”

“Amber knows about our move,” Troy answered Adam’s question.

Adam shrugged and our eyes locked as we had one of our silent conversations. Adam’s eyes were telling me they were doing what they were doing out of love. Not insanity.

I slowly calmed down as Adam eased my concerns that they were making a mistake and would hold me responsible for it. They had really thought about this.

“Okay, if you have really thought about it.” I took my eyes off Adam. “I won’t stand in your way.” I looked back at Jax. “You, however, aren’t on the same page as them.”

“So, you’ll let them move here but not me?” Hurt lingered in Jax’s voice and he kept holding my hand under the water.

I sighed. He didn’t see it. Him relocating here meant he was going to be a full-time dad. If he lived in the same city as me, Jack would have to see him every week. Jack wouldn’t understand Jax had a life. And commitments. Commitments to the club and whatever woman he was currently screwing. Or hell, he might get himself in a serious relationship.

Or a special relationship, like he used to have with Mai.

Mai. Sour topic. Still.

“What are you thinking?” Jax’s eyes narrowed at me. How did he know? Could he read me that easily?

“Nothing.”

“Nah, don’t bullshit me.”

My phone started ringing on the kitchen table. I was surprised it hadn’t gotten drowned in coffee. I pulled my hand out of the water to go get it but Jax’s hand was still on mine and he forced it back under the tap.

“What were you thinking?” He wasn’t giving the topic up.

I pursed my lips. I was not telling him I was getting jealous of his possible future relationships. Nope. Never.

“Tyler, can you get my phone?” I looked at Tyler, seeing he was the closest. He didn’t move. “It could be Dad about Jack. So please.”

I pulled my hand out again, only for Jax to force it back under.

Tyler got up very dramatically and walked to get it. “It’s Will. Still want me to get it?”

“Yep.”

“Fine. But I still want to know where breakfast is,” he grumbled before barking a hello into the phone.

Will would be checking in. Tyler turned around. “No, Amber isn’t here at the moment.” Tyler lied and then frowned. “So, you want me to lie and say you didn’t call and keep her away from the television?” Tyler’s eyes locked with mine. This was his way of telling me. “Sure, I won’t let her watch the morning news.” Again, his way of telling me to turn a television on.

Cole knew that, too, so he picked the remote up off the couch. If there was one thing the boys always did, it was have my side.

Tyler hung up after promising he wouldn’t tell me Will called.

Cole was scrolling through the channels.

Jax turned the water off. My hand was basically ice now.

“Stop, that’s it,” I said just Cole nearly skipped the morning news.

“Amber, your phone is ringing again.”

“I don’t care,” I snapped at Tyler as Jax dried my hand. My eyes were on the television, and I wanted them to hurry up and get to the details about the case.

“It saysat all times answer.”

My eyes snapped to Tyler. “You’re joking, right?” He must just be reading my contacts.
